Subject: Parasitic amperage leak Uintah Mon Nov 25, 2024 7:40 am
A couple days ago I noticed my swing didn't have enough amps to start bike. After a full charge thescoot would loose enough amps overnight to keep bike from starting. After doing a leak test at negative terminals, there was .90 amp drain. I narrowed it down to 10amp : clock backup-lluggage box light. I disconnected luggage box light connector and realized still a drain. Removed 10amp fuse and left it that way. Anyone else had this experience ?

The under seat light is a common problem. Most people do take the bulb out. That should help, as to the rest of the drain it's probably memory applications for the scoot and not a problem. Maybe someone else has more suggestions.

Hi Glenn, the under seat light bulb was removed as soon as the day after purchase (for all my Silverwings.) By the way I moved from Tucson to upstate NY near Ravena; more beautiful country.

What year is your Swing, and does it have ABS. If you disconnect the Meter assembly (dash board) do you still register a parasitic draw from the 10 amp fuse?

Hi Aldusfran,
I would try disconnecting the Reg/Rec, charge it up, leave over night and see if it cures it. If the diodes (1 way valve) are faulty it could let battery voltage drain back the wrong way.
