| I bought a 2004 Silverwing a couple years back with the thought that I'd get out and ride and enjoy it.. But in the end it did nothing but sit in the garage..
It's got 3750 miles on it, some cosmetic damage from, what I assume, is the previous owner dropping it or bumping into something. The fuel gauge doesn't work, but the bike starts and runs just fine with no problems..
I'm just wondering what sort of price would be considered a fair asking. I paid $2600 for it..
I'd like to get something smaller and maybe newer, but when I asked a local dealership about it I was given an off-the-cuff trade in value of $600 for it, which is more of a loss than I would like to take on it..
Thanks in advance for your responses.

Edit: I forgot to include my location. I'm way down in South Georgia, an hour or so NE of Valdosta. |

| Well, you asked, regardless of the mileage, it is 20yrs old !!, with that low mileage, it means it sat unused a lot? Have the tires, belt, coolant, brake fluid, etc., etc., things that age out at 5-10 yrs, replaced/serviced? if original not good/safe !!, fuel gauge not working? "Maybe" issues inside the fuel tank ?, these are potential questions, buyers may ask? Unfortunately, any crash/cosmetic damage does not reflect "TLC" or a good condition vehicle. Sometimes a hard sell. Without knowing answer to some of these questions or looking at actual pics. Based on your description, $1,500 -2000 USD. |

| $1500-2000 sounds a lot better to me than the $600 sight-unseen that the dealership guy said. I have no idea if the previous owner changed the belt or tires or anything like that.. But it hasn't had a new belt or tires since I've owned it. Just oil changes while I've had it. I'll definitely get out there tomorrow and see if I can puzzle out the brake fluid and coolant situation on the bike.
I'm hoping the fuel gauge not working isn't anything major. I emptied the fuel tank as much as I could a couple days ago and put in some fresh premium non-ethanol fuel with some Sea Foam cleaner.. We'll see if that does anything for the fuel gauge.
Thank you for the information and reply, ZRX! |

| Dealers would offer you $600.00 because he hasn't seen bike in person ,right? I bought my 2008 with 7200 miles on it for $2300.00 a year and a half ago. It had a cracked black plastic piece under left floor board which owner had a replacement . I put over 6000 in last year and half ; with bike running flawlessly. Just changed out front Contiscoot tire because of bad front wobble. If you are mechanically inclined ,keep it. These Silverwings are getting scarce but are one of the best two wheelers out there. I'm on my 6th swing . |
