Best exhaust for the Silverwing 600 Empty
PostSubject: Best exhaust for the Silverwing 600   Best exhaust for the Silverwing 600 I_icon_minitimeWed Jun 16, 2021 1:53 pm

Hey all,I see there are quite a few exhaust options for the Silverwing.
I even read about a 2008 Hyabusa exhaust modified to fit the Silverwing.
Is there any pics of that???

So my question is,what's the best 1 to fit that will actually gain a pony or 2 and give a slight torque increase.
Any suggestions??
Thanks.

Check Delkevic muffler. They have both carbon  fibre and stainless steel, different shapes and lengths. It's not eu approved and therefore cheaper than many other brands. I've had Delkevic oval carbon fibre on my SW for 4 years now and I´ve been totally happy with the quality.

So true, the difference is about 10 kgs. Of course you can slim down yourself, but if you have done it already and lighten weight of your SW, this is a good way to do it. My camping stuff weighs quite a lot, when I make my annual trip to Norway of Lapland in Finland, so I prefer the 10 kgs there.

Ooo! Scooter camping in Lapland. I like to see some photos of that experience. Do you bring along cooking equipment and a camping stove?

I weighed mine and found them to be 12 lbs or approx 5.5 kgs difference in weight.  That is 5 lbs for the Delkevic versus 17 lbs for the stock.  I purchased the extra long baffle and still found the muffler too loud to please me.  I have two 18" carbon fibers that I will eventually get around to selling.  They sounded great on a Honda ST1300.

It's being shipped to me as I type this.
How do I attach pics??

Question for those in the know. Will these regular pops and backfires indicate damage or engine harm or whatever. It just started doing this after the muffler swap.

Maybe?  Short mufflers tend to pop, lean fuel mixtures can be a cause also.  I've been running a Delkevic 18" steel muffler for a year now and not much popping only at about 20 mph on deceleration not loud and not all the time. You have a shorty carbon.   I've added a bit more fuel with a Booster Plug box to richen it up.  I feel it makes more power over stock.

Booster Plug.  tricks air intake sensor to reading lower and adds more fuel when the throttle is turned not so much on a O/2  bike at cruise. Best exhaust for the Silverwing 600 Booste10

The Mfgr replied to my same question via ebay saying it's maybe excess fuel burn off during throttle lift. Where can I get one of those booster plugs look like an easy test to see not that I mind the noise but doesn't sound healthy. They said need to remap the ecu to lower fuel curve on throttle lift. And I have no idea where to even ask someone to do that adjustment.
Thanks again for the reply.

Booster Plug search. $160 plus shipping. ECU is not programable. Power Commander box is another option that has different fuel maps or can be tuned by a bike dealer or others that can measure fuel mixtures with a dynamometer. $$$ Power Commander is about $250-300 At most stock engine and muffler 4-5 horsepower increase.

Hello guys,
just saw this thread so I add my experience with the italian GPR exhaust in Titan specific for the SW 600 and installed on my SW400.
I was looking as many of you for a solution to decrease the weight of the SW. For this it worked perfectly.
No power increase or riding improvement. Maybe a bit less power on low revolutions? Who knows.
No max speed increase, it goes to 160 km/h with stock and the GPR.
Much louder of course :-(, full sound, nice sound.
One thing I couldn't stand and definitively not acceptable: exhaust gas was circulating to the rider/to me:-(((. And the end is built in a way the rain comes in when not riding. I spoke about this to the production boss at GPR and he offered me to make an ending tube curved downside. Half an hour waiting and I had my new ending tube. It solved the problem!!! :-)))

For regular official vehicle inspection I had to change it for the stock one because there is no authorization for the SW 400. After the last inspection I didn't have time to put it on again and I'm riding the SW very few in the last years.

Best regards from Switzerland :-)

Hi, I know this is an old thread but on their site they have different lengths does shorter equal loudest and longer mufflers are quieter ?

I was going to start a new post but seems this post is appropriate.
On Tuesday I fitted a Delkevic 350mm oval stainless box and adaptor pipe to my Swing,
Best exhaust for the Silverwing 600 20230311
Best exhaust for the Silverwing 600 20230310

with the usual problem of removing the very rusty 6 mths old clamp.
And a good de-gunk of the Lambda.
Just as well you don't use the OEM graphite pipe seal.
The new box goes straight to pipe and sealed with the supplied Silicon Exhaust Sealant.

That said the assembly was like clockwork.
Best exhaust for the Silverwing 600 20230313

Not quite as loud as I expected, but louder than stock with a lovely deep growl when you nail it, shut back/ overrun sounds
like a Desmo Duke V2 complete with the odd crackle, head turner.
Expecting years of service as it appears well made, fits together snug, no sharp edges anywhere inside and out.
Quality build... next day delivery ..... all for £130 from Ebay.

Be safe, be seen, and heard!

I bought a 2013 BMW scooter that came with an Akrapovic muffler, along with the OEM exhaust in a box. I was so unimpressed with the Akrapovic, I put the stock exhaust back on the bike.

On the other hand, last week I bought a 2004 Silver Wing that came with a Malossi Wild Lion exhaust on the bike (and the OEM in a box). This time, the OEM stays in the box. I love the Malossi, from key-on to key-off. No idea what it does, performance-wise, but it's a great soundtrack for every ride.

Since I ride a LOT with Harleys, sound is not a consideration. I probably couldn't hear my scoot over the H-D's even if I had a straight pipe!

My eleven year old SW muffler is still in fabulous shape so it stays!

That said, I enjoy the experimentation that you all are doing! Keep up the good work!

Delkevic 18 oval works for me not loud and looks nice. Mide pipe changed color has a nice goldish color now HEAT. Does it go faster or more HP hard to say? Saves a bunch of weight though.

3 Questions if I may Japcati.

1 are the individual down pipes a bigger diameter pipe than stock, if so...

2 where from, and ...

3 how much.

OE header is restrictive has bad taper at head and some ugly welds in there. Arrow header looks nice bigger flowing and more power at higher RPM's. But!

An engine is a balanced package intake-exhaust flow ETC. Better flowing exhaust could cause a lean condition without fuel adjustments. Exhaust back pressure at lower RPM gives more torque in the mid-range and loses some at higher speeds.

Not that I can tell,by my eye.
But the header inlets are much smoother, when compared to the Honda headers.
The oem headers just look very restrictive, and an after thought from Honda,or whoever Honda got to make them.
The link pipe expands out to 50mm,when compared to the Honda section.
Massive weight saving too.
