| Hi does anyone know what the minimum thickness of a rear disc should be? or should I buy a new one for £44 from Ebay. The pads wore out on a 220 mile ride and scored the disc badly. |

| Rear disk standard is 6.3mm-6.7mm or .25-.26" service limit 5.5mm or .22"
If it was scored it will need to be replaced. They are to thin to turn the rotor to remove any grooves.
Hope that helps Dan |

| Since these are now old bikes---I would buy new cheap brake pads, ride it and see how that works. Pads are not going to wear the groves out/off of the disk, probably. |

| Thank's I couldn't find that information. I'll get a new one 6.5mm not the 5.5mm ones that are cheaper. |

| I'd do what John suggested first. Unless you were on the rear brakes a lot during that 220 mile run, there won't be that much damage to the disc, it's harder than the backing pad...
Some aftermarket Organic ones will tell you if it's too far gone. |

| I prefer organic brake pads on bikes. Unless you're into racing the organic pads work well and don't tend to damage the disk as metallic sintered pads do. |
