| Hi all, new silverwing owner here from Newquay, UK. Bought myself a 2007 silverwing with about 45,000 miles on the clock a few days ago, and rode it home from London in torrential rain. Very grateful for the heated grips it came with since my waterproof gloves proved to be short on waterproofing (since been replaced). Only mod so far is the addition of a pair of oxford pannier bags. Straps were quite a bit too short, so I made some velcro strap extenders and they seem to fit well, without any movement. That having been said, if anyone else has used this and has suggestions for something to protect the paintwork from the bags rubbing, I'm open to suggestions! Planning to add a givi touring screen some time in the next couple of weeks and some big knuckle-guards to help keep the weather off a bit. [/url] |

| Welcome aboard from o-HI-o enjoy the site and the ride. Everything that rubs harms the paint eventually, perhaps a stick on clear plastic sheet over the affected areas would suit the job. 3M and TRAC ARMOUR both make films for this use. |

| trunkmusic Welcome to the Forum, everyone on here helps with hints, tips & great advice. On the subject of knuckle-guards, if you go for the Givi Airlfow AF214 screen, I found that I didn't need anymore protection from the elements as the screen deflects it away, just a thought. I like those Saddle Bags.

The GIVI 214DT (non airflow and quite a bit cheaper) also deflects wind and rain beautifully, no need for knuckle guards.
A few months ago, I accidentally snapped off the hand protection section of my GIVI on the right side. It was a clean break so the screen looked fine. But it meant I had wind protection for my left hand and none for my right hand. The difference was so profound that I ended up buying a new screen just to have the wind protection back.
GIVI designed the 214DT for the Silver Wing so installation is quick and easy. Remove the windshield garnish (2 screws on outside of dash + 2 screws in the air intake). That reveals the windshield screws, which GIVI kindly matched for position, so remove the old screen and put on the new.
One tip I appreciated: don't put too much pressure on the windshield screws because you can push the rubber grommets that hold them into the bowels of the front cover. That is a bad, dark place for grommets to be. |

| Thanks everyone! Saw a link a while back to a now vanished pdf with a step by step guide on installing the givi windscreen - anyone still have this anywhere? I'm going with the 214DT rather than the airflow to save myself a bit of cash! |

Sadly not to be... The last I saw of mine, was after picking the guy up from the station in Telford, we did the deal he was heading back up to Glasgow, first ride for him on the bike, so it showed complete faith in the bike... and me! 5-6 hrs I would guess. I messaged him 15-18 months later and he was still raving about it. Perfect commuter for Scotland where for him, big distances were the norm, then some city work. |

| steve_h80, This site has had a separate section just for the UK riders to set up rides. I did this many years ago since England is kind of like an island, a big island though. lol https://www.silverwing600.com/f15-uk-united-kingdomYou can start a thread about having a ride or trying to start a ride. Hope this helps. |
