My personal observations...
I recently installed a new drive belt (happened to be a Mallosi), DR Pulley 26gr sliders (to replace standard rollers), a new Michelin Power Pure front tire, and an OEM air filter. Took it for a short, 30 mile ride this morning to see what differences I could tell; don't have any objective recordings to work with though except to say my rpm reading at 60 mph was "about" 200 rpms lower (4500) than a much earlier recording (4700).

Acceleration increase, while not exhilarating by any means, did seem a little less effortless (?) (required less effort) compared to the "roller" setup.  Don't know that any vibration decrease was noted but it's always been reasonably smooth to start with and was very much serene on this ride.  Maybe that was helped by the new front tire which is now in combination with my darkside rear unit.  The old Pirelli Diablo front tire did make it thru some 8400 miles and was just at the wear marks "and" was noted by the tech doing the change, that there were "dry-rot ?" cracks in the sidewalls.  That really surprised me.

Anyway, I'm rarin' to go now but wanted to throw my two cents worth of info out there for others to contemplate.

Jeez Dick, you've been on this forum forever and you're still on the OEM rollers? "Ya can lead a horse to water..."

Please let us know how you fare with the Malossi belt. IIRC they have had a "less than stellar" longevity reputation when used on maxi scoots.

Happy riding with your "new" scoot. Ya know, we ain't gett'n any younger. So put some miles on that thing while you can.

Tim

Hey Dick,

That is good you went with the Dr Pulley's. I did the same thing and thought they were better than the rollers. Hope you enjoy them.

Hi Tim and JeffR,
Yes, my curiosity finally got the better of me... the belt was "due" because of the V light and I wished not to press my luck at all. As to it being a Mallosi belt, the fellow at Buggy Parts "assured" me that it was a much better one than the original and I was sure he really knew what he was talking about Rolling Eyes . I hadn't mentioned it before but I've since edited my post to show I'd changed the air filter also. Going to all the trouble of getting to it to just check it, I decided to put a new one in and keep the old one as a spare; I had cleaned it once before. So now I'll have a belt and a filter as spares.

The curious part about the sliders is now settled and will be doing some more seat-of-the-pants testing very shortly. Coupled with my earlier curiosity about darkside tires, I'd say my satisfaction is now complete. Everything has panned out really well. 'Course, I would like to have some driving lights too... (sigh)... it just never ends... Smile

Oh yes !! Want to add that all this maintenance was made super simple by all the tutorials and pictorials on the great site. Thanks to everyone involved for providing all this information !!!
