I have been a biker all my life - from before I was old enough to have a license! In South Africa we have reasonably good roads with thousands of miles of tar to choose from....comprising tall mountain passes, flat desert to beautiful beaches. I started out on an 80cc Honda and have worked my way up from 150cc to 300cc to the Wing. My motto is ‘no replacement for displacement’ and I love this bike, with around 50 000 miles on her in the last 3 years alone. The round trip to work is 65 miles daily, but that is not enough for me as I also work as a Think Bike marshal in my spare time.
Consequently my mods are pointed more in that direction. Heated grips for the 4am start in the middle of Winter (and on the highveld it gets down below freezing), a cruise control, the boot plus a nice big top box for carrying food and coffee for the day, first aid kit for patching downed cyclists and packing space for excess clothing as the day inevitably warms up; with waterproofs for the afternoon thunderstorm and a larger footplate for parking in muddy ditches while waiting for cyclists! Add to that strobe lighting front and back to warn off motorists from the runners, cyclists and Sunday fun motorbiker or solar car. I work most weekends, partly because I love it and it gives me a chance to ride my Wing!
Our current government foisted a new toll road onto us recently. This was the main road which everybody uses daily to get to work and had been paid for with our taxes back in the 70’s and is maintained by a petrol levy. The profits from this new toll leave the country after the kickbacks being paid.
The general public was never consulted about the process, so understandably most of us do not pay the tolls. My mod for this is a nice numberplate flipper! On the normal public roads I am completely law abiding otherwise. My bike is a 2012 model and it can be said that it has gained some character in those years, with the odd scratch here and there. The Wing is also starting to exhibit some aging issues in the electrics, so I was delighted to be able to scratch around this site and find some answers!

Hello Mighty Mouse. Thank you for your nice introduction. Welcome to the forum.

Number plate flipper? I'd like to see the plans or a link for that. Oh, of course, it's only for entertainment purposes Rolling Eyes
