PostSubject: Wheel balancing   Wheel balancing I_icon_minitimeSun Feb 07, 2016 6:12 pm

I'm interested in mounting my tires myself. Have access to machines that can handle wheels.
Problem is balancing them.
I already own a Marc Parnes  universal wheel balance tool, Will this work with SW wheel bearings-hubs?
I see there is a SPEC. set of cones for SW. Special taper. Don't want to spend more if universal bal will work properly.
Any info thanks.

Easy way=Ride On---not cheap but works/balances, maybe seals small leaks/punctures.

Don't know much about it. I have seen a few posts, stories about it. I would like to start with a good static balance first. Seems impossible with something rolling around inside a wheel to do that. I've had some experience with liquid type tire sealants in car tires, never balance. Try to balance them always calls for different weighs. I know its not a liquid, small balls-pellets.
If it works for you great. Thanks for posting.

Why not use both methods. I do. I mount the tire on the rim without seating the tire. Then use the static wheel balancer to position the tire on the wheel as close to balance without using weights. Now seat the tire on the rim and add the Ride-On per the instructions. Be sure you mount the tire paying attention to the correct rotation. That is my 2¢. Smile

Ride On liquid.

I have tried static balance on stand and then Ride On. Really not necessary.

Big thank you goes to john grinsel for posting info about Ride-On. It saved me time+$ & eliminated those pesky front wheel vibrations above 75mph. With new Hyper Pro set of springs this is the best combo upgrade if you want your Silver Wing to handle like real size motorcycle.

I have had one of Harbor Freight's #98488 static balancers for more years than I can remember, and have never had a problem. BTW, the supplied cones work fine with both the front and rear S'Wing wheels.

It's currently $40 (IIRC I paid $20 way back when), however if you use one of their ubiquitous 20% off coupons it is a more reasonable $32...
