That's great! Hope to see you in St. Louis next June.
The St. Louis Scooter Club doesn't have a lot of SilverWing riders - let's show out in numbers. We're up to 5 SilverWings now... _________________ Dale Huntsville, AL

5 Silverwings. Anyone interesting in getting together for a SWing day ride either before/after the June 10 - 13 dates??

| Bill,
I'd like to, but am hard pressed to find enough vacation. We'll re-look our plan with an eye toward adding and setting aside a day for a SilverWing ride in the plan. I'm more inclined to putting this on the front end. _________________ Dale Huntsville, AL

| BUMP!
Join us in St. Louis for a rally / ride!
Heart of American Maxi-Scoot Meet Up HAMS III St. Louis, Missouri June 10, 11, 12 & 13, 2010
The Gateway Maxi Riders of the St. Louis Scooter Club proudly presents HAMS III in St. Louis this year! We are so excited to show you the great roads we have on our side of the great State of Missouri! We can hardly believe this is our third year for HAMS! The previous two years have been great and we have all made so many new friends; we plan to continue the great concept of coming together for fellowship and riding! While the name does say Maxi Scoot Meet Up, we welcome all kinds of bikes and in each of our previous years we have had all things two wheels and even some things three wheeled! Clear your schedule and come on out, you are in for the ride of your life!
Host Hotel
Oak Grove Inn 6602 S Lindbergh Blvd St Louis, MO 63123-7808 - (314) 894-9449
Please make reservations prior to April 10th, 2010 to guarantee the block group rate of $59.99. Just call and ask for the St. Louis Scooter Club block when booking. They have 30 double bed rooms set aside for us and 15 singles. Well now 29 because even though Pete and I live very close we plan to stay at the host hotel. Many others in our club plan to stay at the Oak Grove! Given the great fun we have had at previous HAMS this sounds like a prudent plan!
Registration this year will be free! If you choose to get a T-shirt, patch and sticker a link will be made available as soon as our artist cranks out this year’s new logo! All orders for merchandise must be placed no later than April 15th, 2010!
Go to page one for all of the details.

Chief Rider - Hope you can make it to St. Louis.
Bill do you have a preference on a day to ride with other SilverWingers? Maybe we could get Maggie to give us a good route. Lets set a day (before or after) and I'll find out about a route. _________________ Dale Huntsville, AL

I guess the order of preference would be 1) Before 2) During (if they have any unused time slots) 3) After (a lot of people want to get home quickly)._________________ Bill - Georgetown TX 07 Silver Wing ABS Clearview w/vent, Givi E96/TB19/E52 with Admore Lighting, Alaskan Leather, Wrist Rests, 3M Solas tape, K&N air, Hyperpro spring, Grip Puppies, Airhawk, Utopia backrest, Stebel, Apexcone HIDs, StingerZ LEDs (w/Backoff WigWag), Knight Rider Sequential LED, NGK Iridium, Power Commander III, Manic Salamander, Saeng mirrors, Garmin Zumo 660, Dark-Side Sumitomo Tire |

How's that date for an all SilverWing ride for those planning to attend? _________________ Dale Huntsville, AL

| Hi Maggie, I think I found a place to camp for a few days and it's not that costly, $8.00 a night for 4 adults with free fire wood and it's only 24 miles from America's Best Value Inn 6602 S Lindbergh Blvd St Louis, MO. http://freecampsites.net/horseshoe-lake-state-park/ Have you heard of this place? Is it OK? If any one wants to split the $8.00 per night camping fee and share a campsite ...Please let me know. Sounds like fun and they are close to alot of fast food places, not more than 4 miles away. |

| How to say this nicely.... that is not the best neighborhood in the world. If there is good security cool.
Look at this map...
http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Oakville,+St.+Louis,+Missouri&ll=38.643691,-90.101624&spn=0.157404,0.363579&z=12
To the west you see Venice and Brooklyn? This is like the strip club capital of the world. OK, that might be an added bonus if you're a guy and like such. But with that comes drugs, robberies, car jacking etc. I sure would not want to ride that way at night.

Edited:
Again it is an urban location. IMHO not the safest area in St. Louis. Is it fenced in? |

| Ok this is from a camper as well as a man in our club that works for the Convention Center re the downtown camp place:
Probably safer than you think. It is entirely fenced in with good onsite security. Not the most scenic place since it for all intents for RV's. Some of the dealers use this site to stage their RV's prior to getting them in the Convention Center for the RV show. I've never heard of a bad report regarding crime in the park. Always seems to be motorhomes there year round.

| Bill,
Same hotel, I just booked directly off of the website.
www.americasbestvalueinn.com
Americas Best Value Inn, St. Louis / South 6602 S. Lindbergh Blvd 314.894.9449
The full stay is already completely paid for and if for some reason we don't show up I'm out the full amount. Not transferable, no stay - no joy!
I searched for best rate and did not use the scooter meet-up or military rate as a discount. _________________ Dale Huntsville, AL

| Started a thread re room sharing.
http://stlphins.com/slsc/index.php?topic=2448.0
Steve added this re rooms:
You can get a single queen room on-line for a couple bucks less than the club rate with AAA/Senior/Military etc. discount. Or you can first sign up for their "Value Card" and save even a couple more bucks. However, the club rate for the two queen room is still the better deal than any discounted rates and only $.50 more than the Value Card rate. There is also an even better rate if you pay up front (at least 14 days in advance), but but I don't know if this is refundable.

| Using Senior rate I was given a rate of $52.19 plus taxes... would I get a rate of $47 if I show a picture of me with a pretty young lady at my side..??? I am going to do a little bargaining before I make the reservations... not a big deal, but what else is an old man like me going to do with his time. |

| Gary (Opalsboy),
Yes she is a pretty young lady (beautiful even).
The key to my good rate was the 14 day advance purchase that Maggie alludes to. And, it is in fact not refundable. That did not deter me as I fully expect to be there. It is a single queen bed, non-smoking room, with no mini fridge or microwave. Could have opted for more amenities, but I'm a tight wad about certain things. I have a hard time with paying for too much decor when most of my time in the room will be with my eyes closed.
But, do dicker with the folks as I've read somewhere that interacting with the local hotel management can get you the best or at least a very good deal. They want the building full with all beds occupied. _________________ Dale Huntsville, AL
