| This is Joel in Missoula, MT. Just got a 2007 Silverwing in a trade. 10k miles, in VG condition. Runs great and it's got a throttle lock device you operate with your thumb. I can hear some clutch squeal when taking off and it seems to backfire a bit when decelerating without braking, but other than that it seems to be in top shape. It's been sitting for close to a year. Oil looks clean, but I have yet to inspect much but the exterior. I plan on checking the air filter, clutch pads, plugs, etc. when I've got some time. What a fun bike!

| Welcome aboard the board and look for some good sailing with the S'Wing. You MAY for the peace of mind do as I did and just go ahead and change ALL the fluids and have a good known date for the maintenance. I did a spark plug change air filter and drive belt change latter. There is a wealth of information here and good folks to guide you. |

| Welcome Joel,
I would agree about just getting a solid date for fluid changes, and youll soon realize the Silverwing is a rock solid engine, hopefully the backfire is nothing serious though! |

| Welcome to the forum, Joel.
A gentle popping seems to be normal on '07 & later machines. IIRC in 2007 Honda changed the ECM & settings to increase fuel economy and reduce emissions. The PAIR valve pumps air into the exhaust when the scoot decelerates which causes the popping.
However, if you are experiencing a loud backfire then you've got a problem. Maybe loose exhaust headers bolts at the cylinder head; a bad/missing muffler gasket; or very loose header pipe/muffler clamp --something which will allow too much air to get sucked into the exhaust system. HTH

| Thanks all. I will definitely get around to the fluid changes sometime soon, and the gear oil when I check or de-glaze clutch pads and inspect belt. Good to know about the backfiring/pressure, I'll keep a close eye on specifics in case of exhaust issues. Thanks Tim for that info. I did add some coolant last night as it was below the lower mark. I used a non-silicate 50/50 blend by ServicePro. |

| Wheelman406, There is an easier way to de-glaze your clutch. Hold the left brake then increase your RPM to about 4k for about 4-5 seconds. It will smoke and smell some. You can prevent this from happening in the future if you do some hard acceleration off the line. |

Wanted to check out the belt & bell condition eventually aklso. Great tip! |
