Can you post a photo of the offending parts?
It might make suggestions easier. Thanks

If you could be a little more descriptive (pictures-model) it would help with your concern. As you know there are many different styles of GIVI systems. I also have a large GIVI top box(Monokey system)and it appears that the hinges are molded into the unite. I'm sure someone here has had a similar problem.  Howard

I've had a Givi E55 Maxia Stealth top box on the back of my Silver Wing for nearly 5 years now, and after reading your post I've just been and checked the twin lid hinges on mine. They look and work like new. They hold the lid open and the little cross head screws holding the hinges onto the box and lid are tight and secure.

I would also suggest doing a search on line. Seems GIVI is good about standing  behind there products. Howard

Did you contact Givi about the problem?

If you are referring to the hinge-to-case screws coming loose from the case body or the case lid then possibly you could use larger screws. I'm offering that suggestion having no idea what your Givi hinge looks like.

As others have suggested a photo of the hinge/case would help.

Tim

Paying $800 for the same Givi kit that we can buy in the UK for about $530 is even funnier.  Smile

Meldrew, the Givi 55 cost about $ 500.00 add brake lights about $190.00 ,and the mounting brackets $ 150.00. + taxes .Nothing's cheap in the North. The Hyper pro spring that i purchase this spring was double the cost of the retail price by the time it got to me.Count yourself lucky, the UK wind knee deflector was $300.  Bling is bling . I sent a email to Givi .ca.but I don't xspect much to come out of it.

Paying $530 for a Givi with issues instead of a Bestem for a $100 without issues is even funnier still Laughing .

I've been over to the U.S. four times since I've had my Silver Wing and I'd have visited Canada too if I hadn't had a stroke.

I still think of the poutine I was going to enjoy in Toronto. I've since eaten Glaspoutine in a burger joint in Glasgow, Scotland, that's poutine with melted Scottish Mature Cheddar on top and it's good stuff.  Smile

I've often thought that on these trips I should bring a pair of Silver Wing wind deflectors over in my luggage for someone who wants a set.

Who over here would buy Bestem from the U.S. with all the hassle of import duties and taxes when we have the choice of European makes like Givi, Kappa, Shad, Krauser, SW-Motech, Trax, Hepco & Becker etc with no import duty and a good € to £ exchange rate.

The largest Bestem box is a measly 46 litres which is useless for my needs and they're styled like the Givi boxes of 20 years ago. Bestem may even be the Honda branded top box that seems to be fitted to most of the used Silver Wings and Deauvilles for sale over here.

I can also buy Coocase top boxes at a bikers hang out about a 30 minute ride from home. I had a quick look at one of their boxes there a couple of years ago, I'll stick with Givi.

Just received email from Givi.ca,and was told that these hinges were discontinued and now are using stop ropes to hold the lid open. That might be an option if the problems persist .

Just order the new hinges. The problem doesn't appear like it will miraculously fix it self. Save your self the aggravation.

Smile Making a set of stop ropes by using a length of weed waker cable or a thin braided cable and crimping a o ring battery  connector type at both ends should do the job holding the lid open. At the moment the screws are holding tight with the epoxy gluing the screws in place, time will tell.    My version of a stop rope.      0--------------0   Smile Smile

I had the same problem with my e55 maxia 3. I figured out if you push at the pivot of the hinge towards the front of the bike it locks out the hinge and the top lid won't fall. I think twisted throttle could order the new rubber straps, but they were like $80 plus shipping.

Meldrew said, "...I can also buy Coocase top boxes at a bikers hang out about a 30 minute ride from home. I had a quick look at one of their boxes there a couple of years ago, I'll stick with Givi..."

I put a Coocase on my first Silverwing and switched it to a B650 after I sold the SW. It was a good solid case, the remote keyless entry was kind of cool as was the alarm though it could have been louder. The tiny LED brake lights on the box didn't show up much in daylight though. Not quite up to Givi but not near the price either.
