I used to ride a goldwing nd got tired of paying for insurance and upkeep for something that sat in the garage for eight months out of the year. I am now on a silverwing and love it. I could buy loads of accessories for the GW but I can't seem to find much for the SW. Help!

We get a lot of Goldwing owners on here, usually telling us how fantastic their Golwings are. The Silver wing is a Maxi Scooter,it does what it is meant to do. In my case it gives me great riding,in comfort ,12 months of the year. In the archives section you will find how to make the back rest that,I, and many others have made. Please enjoy your Silver wing for what it is Smile

True story and realize that the Goldwing has sold MANY more units than the Silver Wing (which btw is not longer produced). Hence, parts and accessories will be hard to come by for the SWing as time passes. So if you want anything better get it Soon...

Of course the Gold Wing has sold MANY more units than the Silver Wing, it's been in constant production for the last 40 years and is now nearly twice the capacity of the original GL 1000 unfaired tourer it started out as.

If the Silver Wing is no longer in production as you say, why are the current Silver Wing SW-T 400 ABS and SW-T 600 ABS models available and selling over in Europe? The venerable FJS 600 Silver Wing is still in the Honda UK line up and they're still shifting them.

I was looking at a very nice white SW-T 600 when I was staying in Bremen last month, it's still basically the same scooter with a facelift. A bit of online research shows parts and accessories are available for both models. I order a lot of items online for my Silver Wing from Germany and they arrive within a week. Online searching shows there's also plenty of parts, service items, and accessories still available for obscure bikes and scooters Honda discontinued many years ago.

Thanks for the answers. I'm pretty good at adapting accessories for other bikes, adapter plates and such. I'll search the archives and see what I can find. Thank you all.

The SilverWing does not need any/many accessories,

Givi Adjustable windshield, Givi rack and box, front mudflap----you can add electric plug in. NEP throttle stop.

Givi also makes passenger back rest. If you must have back rest Utopia works.

As discontinued model in US, and never sold in great numbers, I think nothing new will be offered or developed.

Whole idea in my book is to ride them...as scooter and they work fine, but overweight!

Third party accessories will likely continue to be available as long as there remains a market for the product. The market offerings just won't be as plentiful, varied or inexpensive as they are for high volume bikes. The total annual sales of new scooters in the U.S. has settled in at approximately 35,000 or less. That 35,000 market is shared by multiple brands and displacement sizes. What you want or need in the way of accessory items for your scooter will require a bit more effort and likely involve suppliers in countries where scooters abound. It's all tied to the price of fuel here in the states. If we were paying the price that most other people have to pay for fuel, the whole availability picture would improve. In the meantime, it's fun to search and fit while riding a machine that is so practical and entertaining to own!! Plus, you don't see one on every other corner.

I have a Givi box coming and the mounting plate is on back order. Also ordered a clearview windshield to decrease the wind in my face. I had one on the goldwing and loved it. It was very stable at high speeds and hopefully the quality is still there. As for a back rest, I have seen a few ideas in the archives and I think I will take a stab at making and upholstering my own when the cold weather sets in and scooting season is over for me. I am a fair weather rider. My wife has a Honda Forza and we take weekend trips out into the back roads. Some of the best rides are right here in the Ozarks.

More lights to heighten awareness would be nice and also a bike to bike com system would be great. Any ideas?

Regarding extra lights - you should be able to fit some rear lights into your Givi box when it arrives.
It's worth checking whether Givi do any kits. I think some on here have used Admore kits as well.
I fitted some led light strips from eBay into my Honda box which seem to work ok and give rear lighting at a higher level.

I fitted an Admore kit in the Honda top box - strips of led's, fit neatly behind the reflectors. (Piccys in my album). Sadly DennisB doesn't seem to post anymore, 'cos his connector made it sooo easy to fit extra lights!

Extra rear lights at a (slightly) higher level are always a good idea IMO, as long as they don't dazzle traffic behind you - if the driver's dazzled, you could still end up being hit.

The Admore Light Bar fits on the rear Givi plate bolts.
It's not too high and friends told me it was very effective.
Pictures in my album here.

In the UK it might be advisable to not connect the brake-light wires as the three modulations are not legal here.
Having said that, the motorcycle policeman who pulled me over on the Embankment made no comment when the lights flashed - he was following me.

For lighting for my rear Givi trunk, an E340, I found a set of what was labeled as Premium LED's at Wal-Mart, a very bright red in color. I removed the red reflector on the box and pulled out the silver backing.  I drilled a small hole for the power cord and used the self sticking tape to hold it in place and then replaced the lens. These LED's could be cut to the desired length but it was just the right size as purchased.  I just use this as a taillight as it sits up high and I have a Vololight as a 2nd brake light already.
