We attended STO last year and enjoyed ourselves. The rally format is not our cup of tea, but the location offers lots of great riding opportunities. STO is pretty well organized and the folks who are putting it together really care and want to make it a great rally.

Enjoy yourselves.

I attended the Curve Cowboy Reunion (BMW's) in the Ozarks two years ago. What a really beautiful area that is! Sounds like they have some nice rides planned.

Hello Dale what is the riding format like and any insight that you could give concerning things that are a must see or do would be apreciated. Thanks David and Donna

David and Donna,

We've ridden in quite a few large and small rides and the format at STO was a bit different from an organization standpoint. But that was the first year And I'm sure they have resolved most of the problems.

The group rides were fairly large affairs and most of the riders had ridden before. The biggest problem I have encountered with the rally format is the wide variety of riding skill. We only went on one organized ride, but did lead one as well. The organized ride we went on was way too large and way too short. From what I've seen on the STO site I think they have addressed that problem.

They had maps for plenty of alternate rides and we took advantage of the alternates. If you click on the WWW button in the bottom of this message it will take you to our blog site. Look in the September 2008 blogs for a complete run down.

Dale thanks so much for the reply. I went to your Blog and spent quite a bit of time there. the info about STO will help us prepare and be able to enjoy it a lot more. The kind of rideing you enjoy is the kind we like also. My wife Donna has a 400 Burgman and i ride a swing. Would love to get together with yall some time for a ride. Thanks David

David,

The area is really a great location for riding. We enjoyed the Peels Ferry ride. It is always a hoot to take a bike on a ferry. The ride to Terra Studios was a lot of fun and put us on AR-23 "the Pig Trail". We actually had the best time on our four state ride, lunch in Baxter Springs, Kansas was a great surprise andthe ride was fun.

We may get a chance to ride together some day, our next planned big ride out to Oregon might route us through Willow Springs, MO.

Dale what are you doing up at 2 AM are you a night owl. I have run the pig trail twice and enjoyed it also. Give us a heads up when you plan on heading west hopefully we can burn up a few miles together. What become of your tire problem? I bought a yamaha Morphous on Ebay a couple of weeks ago and it is in Lavonia Georgia. I hope to head over that way on 8/30 to pick it up. The Morphous looks so weird I could not resist. If it has two wheels and a motor I want to ride it. Bought my first bike in 1970 and the fever is worse today than it was then. Bought my first Goldwing in Corpus Christy TX. in 1978 and bought a new one in Springfield MO. in 2006. Bought my first Silverwing on Ebay in 2007 because of being curious how they road. I could not quit rideing it. When I went to the garage to get a bike it was my first choice. Did a tour of MO. and AR. for five days and when I got home I put the Gold Wing on Ebay and sold it a week later. The big scooters are without a doubt the most two wheel comfort and fun touring I have ever experienced. When I strap on the GIVI bags, bedrole, and tent and get headed down the road with no place I have to be for a week. I am as excited as a kid with their first puppy. Rideing around is fun but touring is great. David V.

Donna and I attended the STO ralley while I was home. Met some great folks and had some great rides.(in the rain) The whole time it was raining on and off. The attendance was way down. The Hoe Down show the last night was great. Sure would like to see more vendors.
