Hi all. I had said I had some easy DIY projects I have used for a few years now on my Burgman. I recently finished adapting them for my Silverwing. I have others but lets start here. If your not comfortable using a drink bottle while riding, that's fine. I use mine at HI way speeds while doing long trips to stay hydrated. Your choice. All my DIY projects are easy and cost less than $10. The pictures are on my album and are fairly self explanatory. If you need added info, please post on this thread so others may see if they have the same question. You may be able to improve on them and share with everyone. I'll give a brief explanation. Start with a Coffee Mate plastic container and cut it as in pic 1, next an old plastic bucket works good because it's a little thicker. Cut a strip from the side about 1-1/4 inch wide and 10 inches long. About 1 inch from the end, use a lighter to warm/melt the strip, fold it over and run under cold water. Now tape it to the side of the coffee mate holder sticking up about 4 inches. DONE !!! Just too easy. Turn your handle bars about 30 degrees and hook your drink holder and slide it down to the center of the dash. If your worried about marking the dash ,a short piece of the fuzzy side of a piece of Velcro on the back side of the holder will take care of that. Now the bottle. Take a water or soda bottle that drops in your holder and drill a 1/4 inch hole in the cap. Go to the hardware store and get a foot of plastic 1/4 tube. I should fit tight in the cap. Make sure it goes all the way to the bottom and let it stick out 3 inches from the top. DO NOT put carbonated drinks in the bottle or you will be wearing it. you now have a 1 suck 1 swallow bottle that won't spill while riding. Now the cool part. The reason the straw  sticks out 3 inches is because I always wear a full face helmet and you can put the straw up by your chin and drink. Now how cool is that. Water is what I use but any non-carbonated drink will do. I hope this is something all can use and enjoy. My next DIY project is a drink holder for your passenger. Even easier . Thanks Ernie

That's interesting. I want to figure out a way to take my drink cup from lunch back to the office or house.

Neat idea 'ernie'.  Will have to keep that in mind although I don't do much much drinking while out on the road. Usually, my problem is getting rid of whatever I've already taken in so I try not to add to the problem. Smile Smile

Ernie,

Great Job. Very creative.

1. In the first picture the bucket handle was prominent.
Is that somehow the source of the shape for the folded plastic, or is it physically part of the finished product in some way? How is it used?

2. A second hole in the bottlecap, even just 1/16 inch should make it easier to suck because it avoids creating a vacuum.

Actually the piece of plastic I used was from an old piece of plastic. Handle had nothing to do with the finished plastic. Just tried a few types. I did try putting a small vent hole but found it always seemed to be wet as it leaked with shaking and on my Burgman the wind blowing seemed to draw out whatever was in the bottle. You may have better luck. I was just happy to be able to have a few swallows while traveling back and forth to NY to see family. Vodka works well, but blurrrrrs the vision a bit !!!

Maybe a second, tight fitting straw standing up about an inch or so more would would keep the "splash" from coming out?????

Actually I like the vacuum that it creates ! that way your not gulping down drinks. I use it to just stay hydrated. When you take a suck and swallow down, the vacuum draws down and empties the straw. also if you tip or drop the bottle ,no spill at all. Works for me. I'll try to add a couple more pictures soon for the passenger drink holder. Even the driver can use one. As I said, these DIY little projects are cheap, easy to make and work ! Thanks all, Ernie
