You need to remove the two screws in the inlet just under the windshield. Once they are removed then you can remove the inlet. I can not remember if you push down or up to remove. It has tabs that hold it in place so you need to be careful. Once it is off you can access the 6 screws that hold the windshield in place.

Dom, if you go to the pictorials section, you will find a Givi windshield installation pictorial. This includes a step by step pdf for removing the windshield. Jeff did a lot of work gathering information to help us.

Might be two additional screws as well.

Wiggle it out gently. I'm not sure where the tabs are either, but if you wiggle it, and don't force anything, you'll be fine. Here's a pictorial.

Be extra super careful with those nuts inside the rubber grommets that hold the windshield on. I popped those buggers out of their holes about 6 times putting my windshield back on, and I was being careful. What worked well for me in the end was to push the windshield against the exposed rubber of the grommet to hold it in place while I got the screw started.

Just pulled the bezel off today to replace the low beam lamp. There's four screws, two sheet metal types in the air inlet, two machine screws behind and beside the windshield. There are four tabs, two on each side of the bezel to remove after the screws are out. The tabs in the middle of each side pop out easily but the front two are pointed aft on the bike so need to be worked out wiggling the bezel forward and down. The bezel on the SW now is a new one I bought, the original one had four broken tabs.

The Madstad is installed, kudos to Jeff and a ll who helped. The pictorial sealed the deal. Can't think of what it would be like without this forum.
Will post some pics and report on efficacy after a few test runs.

Dom,

I'm glad everything worked good for you. It would be nice to see pics and read your review too. I hear very good things about the Madstad.

Dom,

the shield looks nice. How do you like it from your previous shield?

The Madstad shield is a winner. Easy to install and with new modification of knobs for angle adjustment, easy to operate. Test ride on interstate confirms superior performance in handling buffeting. Need to learn different
effects of raising and lowering height. Previous shield was attractive but less effective.
