If you use the search fuction, you will find several references to Alaska. Are you looking for warmer weather?

It's probably nicer in Alaska than here in WI, more rain/snow forecast for the rest of the week.

Dr. Mike has ridden with a group to Alaska from Florida and other states along the way for many consecutive years now. His first several rides were on his Swing. He now rides a Goldwing if I'm right.

What other bikes do you own, if any others? I know my nephews moved down from Alaska some years ago and there was still a length of highway that was still gravel. You may want to look into this. The reason I say this is because those that have taken their SWing had some tough times with the gravel and road due to the smaller tires and suspension. But it is done and you can do it.

I would put on new tires and a new belt if you do this though. And carry a used belt with the tools in case you break one. Maybe even get a hitch and small trailer for gear. But I would like to do something like this one day, and I would like to read your posts if you do this.

Having ridden to Alaska, not SilverWing, about 15 years ago, Honda 750 NightHawk with Kwic Kamp trailer the hard way-----lots of mud thru BC---for SilverWing I would start with fresh tires in Seattle. New Hondas do the trip with usually no trouble.

Fresh drive belt in Seattle, good idea, too, carry spare also. Tires tools/repair kit/pump also

Professional Quality riding gear, etc, rubber boots means a little more comfort, too.

There is also a cheat way to ride to Alaska---Hymer, a one day trip from Seattle thru BC----only dirt road in right after you cross back in US and ride into Hymer...road ends there.

Ferries.....for trailer bikers!

Gas Can??? SilverWing=small tank.

I went to Alaska in 09 on my BMW K1100, I have a Honda ST1300 now and the 2010 SW. I thought it might be fun to take the scooter. I'll likely return from Skagway or Haines via the ferry to Bellingham and visit friends in WA. I've already test loaded the SW with my camping gear and Kury. bag. Seems to fit and handle OK.

That is pretty cool you and John have done this. I know the SWing can do it but I have driven on gravel and it doesn't seem the SWing likes gravel as much as a bike with a larger front tire. Did you encounter any gravel roads on your way up? I think my nephews came down around 2002 or so.

There was a guy that lived in Alaska and had a Reflex, and rode it down to the lower 48 and also in Mexico. He posted a picture and the Reflex looked like a 'pack mule'. He had a complete set of tires on their rims and I was shocked he could do this, or would do this, on the Reflex. But I wished I would have saved that picture.

Went last summer with a friend of mine.
Only two things to remember.
1: Its gonna rain so dress for it.
2. At half a tank start looking

Was a great trip. Went up the Alaska highway and came back on the Cassiar.
Became a member of the sour toe cocktail club.
Top of the world highway is challenging but worth the ride.
Lots of wildlife.
If your planning on taking a ferry book now.
Ride safe
