PostSubject: Piaggio super economical MP3 Hybrid   Sun Dec 28, 2008 6:40 am

Hi Folks,

Came across this on a different forum....

http://blog.wired.com/cars/2008/11/piaggio-unveils.html

To which I added my own thoughts.....

Hmmmm! Well it sure looks kinda good, and the specs if they are right would have me interested..... But are the specs right? I mean How many production 250cc scoots achieve 0-60 in five seconds as the advert says? I don't think that there are any! Not without some fancy added extras and MODs. Don't forget the MP3 is a heavy machine, and what with all the added weight of the batteries and electric motors, the hybrid will probably weigh in as one of the heaviest, if not the heaviest scoot on the road. This website review reveals a little more though..

So who knows? Piaggio seem to be really going for it with this one..... Shame about the underseat storage though...... however

although this review also seems promising it suggests that the engine being mounted as part of the swing arm is going to be going up and down over the slightest bumps.... so not as good for handling as the frame mounted engines of the bigger scoots (and motorbikes) ... but since this is an MP3, presumably it's not gonna make much of a difference as you have that extra wheel, and afterall it's in a scoot that's already proven itself as a good handler....

So who is gonna be the firt to ride one and post a review... And how much is it gonna cost?

Ah well, maybe for next Christmas then...!? Honey darling I know what I want now......
