| I would like to point someone to a specific post within a thread for a pointer.
How can I create a link to a specific post in a thread?
I do not see anything I can click to create me a unique URL to a specific post (not just to the thread). _________________ Bill - Georgetown TX 07 Silver Wing ABS Clearview w/vent, Givi E96/TB19/E52 with Admore Lighting, Alaskan Leather, Wrist Rests, 3M Solas tape, K&N air, Hyperpro spring, Grip Puppies, Airhawk, Utopia backrest, Stebel, Apexcone HIDs, StingerZ LEDs (w/Backoff WigWag), Knight Rider Sequential LED, NGK Iridium, Power Commander III, Manic Salamander, Saeng mirrors, Garmin Zumo 660, Dark-Side Sumitomo Tire |

| The button that you require is 8th from left and will produce a link like this. Click hereType or paste the URL in the top dialogue box and type the text you want readers to see in the lower box. If you don't want to use the button you can type the BB code (leave out the blanks) [url ] http://www .silverwing600.com/tips-on-using-this-site-f8/how-to-create-link-to-specific-post-in-thread-t497.htm [/url ] or [url = http://www .silverwing600.com/tips-on-using-this-site-f8/how-to-create-link-to-specific-post-in-thread-t497.htm] Click Here [ /url ] |

Just re-read your post and realised that maybe it's the Quote button you need. Top right of the post. |

If you 1) hit the quote button 2) copy the URL 3) paste the URL in a new tab or window
You will be brought back to quoted posting that you can reply to. The user could read the quoted post, but then they might accidentally post an unnecessary reply.
I just want to be able to point someone to a very specific post in a thread to read. Like I said, the HTTP standard allows for this via a "#label" appended to the URL ... I am looking for a click button to provide the correct URL with the "#label" for the post._________________ Bill - Georgetown TX 07 Silver Wing ABS Clearview w/vent, Givi E96/TB19/E52 with Admore Lighting, Alaskan Leather, Wrist Rests, 3M Solas tape, K&N air, Hyperpro spring, Grip Puppies, Airhawk, Utopia backrest, Stebel, Apexcone HIDs, StingerZ LEDs (w/Backoff WigWag), Knight Rider Sequential LED, NGK Iridium, Power Commander III, Manic Salamander, Saeng mirrors, Garmin Zumo 660, Dark-Side Sumitomo Tire |

| Bill,
It is early and I thought I'd look at this problem. I open a new window and find the post I want to link to then just copy the address. And then paste that copied address into the new message I'm posting or responding to.

This is not a simple solution, but it works. |

| Okay I tried this and - the result is - it works, but the link does not open a new browser window. So web location awareness is a must.
And, of course you knew this and were aware of how to post a link pointing to a specific post. I guess you are looking for a simple and easy way to capture the url for a specific post?

Dale if you right click on your link- in Firefox or IE8 - you have the option to open that link in a new window or new tab. |

Yes. I know I can do it ... this is the only forum I have seen where I cannot get a quick link to a specific post and I was trying to make it easy for the non-technical members._________________ Bill - Georgetown TX 07 Silver Wing ABS Clearview w/vent, Givi E96/TB19/E52 with Admore Lighting, Alaskan Leather, Wrist Rests, 3M Solas tape, K&N air, Hyperpro spring, Grip Puppies, Airhawk, Utopia backrest, Stebel, Apexcone HIDs, StingerZ LEDs (w/Backoff WigWag), Knight Rider Sequential LED, NGK Iridium, Power Commander III, Manic Salamander, Saeng mirrors, Garmin Zumo 660, Dark-Side Sumitomo Tire |
