Parts needed to up-date the older Glove Box Covers (2002 thru 2006) to the Newer Latch type (Black Textured)

Right Glove Box Cover and Pocket:

(1) 64250-MCT-961 : POCKET, R. (inner)
(1) 64461-MCT-960 : LID, R. POCKET (inner)
(1) 64468-MCT-960 : LID, R. POCKET (outer)
(1) 64474-MCT-960 : SPRING, POCKET
(1) 64480-MCT-960 : KNOB, R. LID OPENER
(1) 64481-MCT-960 : HOOK, R. LID OPENER
(1) 64483-MCT-960 : SPRING, RETURN (latch)
(1) 93903-34380 : SCREW, TAP (4X12)
(7) 93903-34480 : SCREW, TAPPING (4X16)

Note: This is a drop in unit once assembled.


Left Glove Box Cover:

(1) 64471-MCT-960 : LID, L. POCKET (inner)
(1) 64478-MCT-960 : LID, L. POCKET (outer)
(1) 64483-MCT-960 : SPRING, RETURN (latch)
(1) 64490-MCT-960 : KNOB, L. LID OPENER
(1) 64491-MCT-960 : HOOK, L. LID OPENER.
(7) 93903-34480 : SCREW, TAPPING (4X16)

Note: Re-use these older part numbers on the new left cover:

(1) 64464-MCT-000 : HOLDER, DAMPER
(1) 93903-34310 : SCREW, TAP (4X12)
(1) 64472-MCT-000 : HOOK, LOCK
(2) 93903-35310 : SCREW, TAP (5X16)
(1) 64319-MCT-831 : SPRING, L. POCKET LID

Being the cynical old scrote I am, isn't it just needlessly spending cash on a couple of bits of plastic you already have. Yet two other bits of plastic that would be far more useful to fit, the Honda leg wind deflectors are always considered to be far too expensive to import from the UK or Europe by the majority of US members.

I looked at the deflectors but decided against them. First I need to fabricate some highway pegs and brackets. at 191cm, I need that little bit more leg room. Once I have those done to my satisfaction, I'll look into the wind deflectors.

Any pegs I do will have to look stock and not interfere with other items.

Part of the reason I would like the new glove box covers is that the right one seems fairly flimsy

I've had the advantage of riding both early 2002-2006 and 2007 and up Silverwings. There are many reasons why I went to the newer glovebox covers.

1. The positive lock down. No more just popping open while I'm riding down the highway.

2. Sun reflection off the lower dashboard surface is greatly reduced with this upgrade. I did notice alot of sun glare with this 2006 Swing stock dashboard before the cover change out.

3. Looks better and stronger, not flimsy.

The one problem I had was the left glove box. There is one screw that is a buggar to get out.

For those that have the old style, of glove boxes, you also have the painted area that surrounds it rather than the newer textured style.
You could also order the newer style and to have a complete upgrade.
