I received my mirrors with the turn signals in them today. I think they will work fine. Has anyone installed these on their Silverwing? I just need a suggestion on where the best place to hook into the wireing. Is there an easy way to get to the turn signal on the bike so I don't have to disturb any original wireing or harness? They are simple LED's so should not take much power. Any suggestions?

Just installed my lighted turn signals. They use the dual voltage supplied to the regular signals, I.E.they are on low all the time then get bright when left or right are selected . I connected to the wiring harness under the left side handle bar cover.

You can tap into the wire harness off the left side handlebar switches. Look for the Light Blue (not blue w/ white stripe) and Orange wires. Orange = left turn signal; Light Blue = right.

I assume you have to go through the shrouded wiring harness to get to those wires. Is that correct. If so it means I have to carefully cut into the shroud and find the orange and light blue wires. Is that correct? Then splice into the wires.

Or Posi-tap ( http://www.posi-lock.com/posiplug.html ) the wires.

These mirror wires have two wires where do you ground to? As you can tell I am not an electrician.

Cannot find the Posi-taps here in this area. They look like they would be the deal though. I still need to know where to connect the ground wire and in that loop what color is it . Black?
Also in that harness there are 2 orange wires. One looks like it has a stripe on it.
Thanks alot!

Hi Dave,

Just run your new lights "ground wires" to the and then under the bolt heads of the Honda handelbar cover bracket. That's a good grounding point.

Yes, you've got to carefully cut into the wire harness sheathing to expose the wires.

And yes too, that would be solid Orange (no stripe) and Light Blue (no stripe)

Dunno if there is a ground wire in that harness but, traditionally, Green would be a ground wire. But, as Dennis stated, you can use the handlebar bracket bolts as a ground.

If you can locate them (try your local NAPA parts house), Posi-Taps are definitely the way to go. Use the Blue Posi-Taps as they are the best size for the ~20 ga wires in the harness.

When in doubt check the Wiring Diagram in the Service Manual.

Thank you very much. I tried NAPA parts but they did not have the "Posi-Taps" and yes I agree that is the way to go. I do not like to tap the factory wires it I can keep from it.
