I had no idea about the drama of MRP. and Dr. Pulley.
I just happened to come across the information looking for something
else and thought I'd share it.

There is nothing on the turbokit.net site which is where MRP says they are getting it.
There is also no pricing information.
Ever since scootertrap closed there has been no USA source for JCosta
that I am aware of,
So IF it is a knockoff of JCosta, and IF it is as good or better, than it may
be a blessing for us to have a new USA distributor for JCosta-esque Variators.

BUT, thats a lot of "IFs".

I know some of you are using the J.Costa but I recall reading on the Burg400 forum that a couple guys had their splines damaged by the JC.
Also probs with the bronze/copper? sliding gadget getting dry and not working as it should. You can prob go their forum and do a search for more details.

I tried one on my B400 for a short time but didn't see any real benefit to me so I went back to the OEM variator but changed the sliders to Dr. Pully.
Prob will put them in the SW when I have occasion to open the CVT case.

Looking at some pics on the MRP site, one of them had J Costa stamped on the brass/graphite senter section.

Again no prices. But they are a wholesaler, and need to get from a dealer.

I put a JC on my Silverwing in Jan 2010. I've put 13,000 miles on it since then and love the performance. However, the problem that I am having is that the brass and graphite bushing is getting gooey from something, and it makes it harder for the inner face of the variator to slide in/out. It tends to hold the rpm's a little too high.

I took it apart several times this summer and cleaned it, but within a few hundred miles it was sticking again. I decided to apply a drop of Mobil 1 motor oil to the bushing and found that it worked better than keeping the bushing dry and clean. I've done about 2000 miles since then and it still works fairly well, but not as well as a new JC works. The belt and JC pins were replaced this summer.

I've come to the conclusion that it is a race part, and durability is not what it was designed for. I will be ordering some 24 gram Dr. Pulley sliders for use when the J Costa becomes more trouble than it is fun.

Well from our part of the world in asia, it seems that the Malossi 24g rollers is also a viable option as Dr pulley sliders "eat" into the stock variator. Yes I totally agree that Jcosta's performance is unbeatable only that the cost that it requires constant maintenance of the pushers (replacement at 12000km?)
I am going to change to the Malossi rollers tomorrow and see how much enhancement it does to the scooter.

Shirox: when you refer to the DPSliders "eating into the variator", what part of the variator? Is it the outter edges? I don't have them in my Silverwing but did use them in previousl Burgman 400's. On those, some of us lightly filed the outter edges of the variator but only because it ate into the slider, or caused a slight "cut" across the slider.

hmm, we have a local distributor here in SG. And riders here are usually quite close to each other. We even have Scooter specialize shops here that mods and service scooters haha.
All the sliders are authentic and some did faced problems and had feedbacks to the rest of the folks here.
Jcosta is the more popular brands here nowadays.
I personally have not tried the Dr Pulleys, however from the suggestions of my friends, i was taken back in trying them.

We have a Group to Tmax riders here as well who uses Jcosta who gave fantastic feedbacks on its performance.

I am actually torn between to bite the bullet and change to a JC or to just try it out with the malossi 24G rollers.

Using a SWT400 now for a year So far I have Malossi clutch springs, torque springs installed. Modified my front fork for a more stiifer feel with lesser "springing" effect when i nego corners.

I have done over 4,700 miles on Malossi rollers in a std variator,I took them out to check them this Winter and they are unmarked.They weigh about 6grams less than the std rollers so she seems to "spin up" quicker,when you slow around 40-50mph and then accelerate again.
