What methods do those of you with GPS units - How do you secure the unit to the bike?

I know all about the RAM mounts and the manufacturer mount systems, but am curious about any extra ordinary efforts that people have used or are considering to provide just a little more security and piece of mind.

What have you done beyond the mount system to tether or secure the unit to the bike? Photos if available please.

I used epoxy resin to glue a small metal tab on the back. Then I got a lanyard from a mobile phone or digital camera and attach the loop end around a mirror stem and the fastening end to the metal tab.

A friend's GPS has an eye alredy on the GPS for this purpose - a Navman I think.

Apparently this item is not available in US. Vender noted they do not ship outside the UK. Looks good though. Someone will pick it up here someday. I still am happy with the system Dennis has designed for the Silverwing.

Gary, I agree with you. That's a nice product from Givi. However, I am very pleased with DennisB's GPS mount.

It seems to me that the standard system for locking down hardware in offices (thin steel cable on a special mount) can be adapted if necessary.

I think the best one though is the mount cradles that with the flip of a lever or similar, allow you to disconnect it and put it in your pocket or seat. Those are made for individual GPS units from the various manufacturers.

I use a small zip tie that I tie from back to front center of the gps, when i remove it I simply loosen the suction cup, and slide it out.
