Specific 12v power points

Hi all..

I want to add a 12v 'cigarette lighter' socket to my silverwing...
I was wondering if anyone here had any recommendations for specific parts..?
When I google it I can only find adapters without inline fuses... (15amp preferred here...my peak draw will be over 10a..)

Any recommendations..?

You should send an email to DennisB. He makes a connection that is easy to install and is modular. I think you can use it for a socket.

I don't have a power outlet, but I entered power outlet in the search function at the top of the page and there were a number of threads on this. Maybe one of them will contain the information you need. Also, as JeffR said, I think DennisB has something that might help. Look under Dennis' shop. Oh, and welcome to the forum.

Thank you... Before I joined... those old threads are where I found info that eventually lead to this one... ^^

I have one more question... this might be too specific, but..
I saw the thread that says the SW alternator puts out 440w at 5000rpm... Does anyone know the output for 3500-4000..?
( I'm just wondering what speed I need to sustain a 12.2a draw...^^; )

It sounds like your requirement is for heated clothing and/or grips. You should be fine at any rpm above idle. The alternator will compensate for increased load by strengthening its magnetic field. This will make the rotor harder to turn, resulting in a lower idle speed. But once you're on the throttle, the increased rpm will handle the additional alternator load.
Not to worry as long as you don't let the engine idle for long periods of time. That could eventually drain the battery.

Yes..and maybe a gps eventually...

It's 14v, not 12v, on the wire..?

Never was a problem, even with the extra hot stock catalytic muffler. As long as I had a 2" air gap between the bottom of the bag and top of the muffler I never had a problem. With the LeoVince muffler there's much less heat produced (straight through design and no catalyst) and I would only need about 3/4" clearance.

From that link... do you know if they all have the same clearance..?
Does one of them specifically replace the 427..?
