| Hey Larry, It would have been nice if you would have opened a new thread in the rides and reports section. Some people look at darkside headings and think " ain't going there". This is not a criticism and maybe that section is only for trips taken. I'm not sure. But you sure have a nice setup and I for one would look forward to any reports on your trip. You ride safe and if you need anything in the DFW area PM me. Oh, Terry is not on my Christmas list either, but neither is anyone else on here. |

| Hi Yo, I understand. Thank you for your generous offer. I will eat at least one meal in Dallas and it will be one of the "Diners Drive-ins and Dives" from the food network.
I really was just hijacking this tread for a little information about myself, what I am doing and getting ready to do. I will create a thread about my trip when I get back. I have a Goldwing Forum that I will be updating as I travel across the country. I will also be using a Spot Tracker system. (GPS) if you don't know of this, Google. It is pretty neat.
The post really is about letting a few people who got caught up in this ugly exchange know that I am a serious motorcyclist and that I have another side to me.
I like my Goldwing....... and love my Silverwing. I was tempted to make the trip on the Silverwing but the comfort of the Goldwing won out. But I have no doubt the Silverwing would make it there and back fine.

I am so glad you got that off of your chest.
I was in your great state in May of this year and enjoyed the company of many friends from a different motorcycle forum.

| Where will you cross the Rockies around the Dec 6ish time frame?? Could snow be a major factor ... or are there certain routes to mitigate it?? _________________ Bill - Georgetown TX 07 Silver Wing ABS Clearview w/vent, Givi E96/TB19/E52 with Admore Lighting, Alaskan Leather, Wrist Rests, 3M Solas tape, K&N air, Hyperpro spring, Grip Puppies, Airhawk, Utopia backrest, Stebel, Apexcone HIDs, StingerZ LEDs (w/Backoff WigWag), Knight Rider Sequential LED, NGK Iridium, Power Commander III, Manic Salamander, Saeng mirrors, Garmin Zumo 660, Dark-Side Sumitomo Tire |

| I am following the coast on 101 to LA and then turning left towards Phoenix. I will stay in the south end and travel to San Antonio and on to New Orleans.

| Larry, Your bike looks more like a Winnebago with some of the wheels missing! How does it handle the twisties? Or is it a 'straight-line machine?
Take care on that long ride of yours. Look forward to the write-up and some pictures.
Cheers,

Thank you for your comment.
I like to ride and read the mailboxes but if I want a spirited ride, and scrape metal it will do that too. I just don't do that when I am loaded down on with gear.
It will ride 95 by the GPS all day long and after 600 miles, I can still walk and do something else. I have a Corbin seat on it for that comfort factor. I also have a Hartco swede for the "parades."
Here is my bike loaded and ready to go on my ride from Seattle to Phoenix and back, two up, pulling a trailer. 3500+ miles. I was down that way in April. The trailer was kinda hairy when I was going over Dead man's pass in Oregon. It was snowing, tracks on the freeway.... my bike tires were in the track but the trailer tire was breaking trail. I had to ride at 30 miles an hour and was getting passed by semi's at 60+ I was never so glad to get off of a pass in all of my life. My heart was in my throat.
