| Tng: fantastic group of pictures. Very well done and helpful to me to better understand the mechanics of the Silverwing. I envy you your mechanical skills to be able to do all that work by yourself. Most of us aren't knowledgable enough to do that. If you have pictures of your country, I'd love to see them if you'd care to post them. |

| Here's my question for you TNG. Did you notice a difference in power after drilling out the airbox? Would you recommend drilling the airbox for anyone using a performance exhaust with K & N air filter? Thanks. |

| Yes it is a good improvement. SW works by a rich mixture. More air is good for the engine. approaching a 12.5 AFR. with drill filter Power Commander is what is needed with a lean mixture map! ex: - Attachments

| Thanks TNG. I don't have a Power Commander, so the chart didn't mean much to me. I now have a winter project, to drill my airbox.
I notice that you drilled many small holes instead of fewer large holes. Any reason other than to keep mice out? The many small holes would have more restriction than several large holes. Thanks. |

| Bigbird, lots of little holes sunk the Titanic... a big hole would only have crippled it Really though you would need to work out the area of all the holes. Smaller holes would soften the inrush of air giving a smoother flow across the element. Its really only acedemic, hey.
When I was a tacker I destroyed several Suzuki 250 pistons by drilling out the airbox after sucking a rag into the airbox intake. The bonus was it sounded like an RD350 on induction howl. Didn't know about richer/ leaner stuff back then |

Makes sense. I only want to insure that enough air is available for combustion now that I have a performance muffler and high flow air filter. Probably 15 holes of 3mm diameter would more than suffice. |
