| Yes, 'tis moi.
This is in the Tahoe National Forest about 80 miles east of Sacramento, California in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The nearest civilization is in Foresthill about 20 miles west of here.
The run was a church crew run last June. We tried to get to a place called Robertson Flat, but the road stopped about a mile short because the snow was still 4' deep. As we came back down the hill, I saw this little dirt trail off the pavement and decided to follow it down a bit...let the others go. The dirt was well packed and the bike handled it surprisingly well, but it was very apparent that this was not the SWing's natural environment. I got down about a 1/4 mile and decided to turn around, but before I did, I switched off so I could hear the sound of the wind going through the trees and have a moment of peaceful bliss. The photo was taken as I was walking back to the bike...
Glad you like the photo. The ride was awesome... |

| I Too like the Picture, But it's too big. It would help if it was about half that size. BTW I have it on my background. |

| Great photo Bob... go back and take one of the 4 feet snow ... I could sense the quiet of that area. Thanks for posting. And thank you to who ever chose that one to put on the home page like this. |

Wonderful picture.
If we had that much snow in Dorset it would grind the county to a halt.
Usually 1/2 inch does the trick!!!!! |

| Well, it definitely ground us to a halt! I forgot to bring my front wheel ski and rear paddle tire!!
We got a PILE of snow last year and it was on the ground into July...if I recall correctly, some of the Tahoe ski areas were still open for skiing on the 4th of July. Makes for some very interesting motorcycling.
Incidentally, Doug, I get a copy of Motorcycling for Sport and Leisure every month...a local bookstore here carries it...and I'm very impressed about the conditions under which you folks in the UK ride your machines...dedicated bunch, you lot... |

I recently stopped buying MS & L which I've read since the late 70's when it was Motorcycle Sport and featured articles and letters written by pipe smoking men with beards, Barbour suits, and open face helmets who rode BMW, MZ, Laverda, and Vincent, anything else was 'Jap Crap'. It was considered an uncool old man's magazine back then. I recycled about 3 or 4 years of MS & L magazines only a couple of weeks ago.
The only British bike mag I buy now is Adventure Bike Rider, and I have a 3 year subscription to Road RUNNER which I think with it's emphasis on touring and travel, far better than any other American bike magazine I've read over the years. |

| Wing & Wind... it may be just me, but the pic is just right on my display. No scrolling either vertical or horizontal. One thing you might try is pressing the "Ctrl" key while pressing the "-" key. To enlarge the display view you can press the "Ctrl" and "+". Adjust the view to your liking. I guess that works for everybody. Not sure about the Mac. Hope this helps. |
