Anyone tried this type for air filter?
Removing the air filter box and replace with this
Reducing weight and best airflow. Cool

Something like this ....

Interesting.
Seems like a lot of work.
Installing the flat K & N that fits the Silverwing application should insure more than ample air flow unless you're modding your engine with either turbo or super charging.
The limiting factor to air flow after installing the specified K & N is probably valve diameter, intake tube diameter, exhaust pipe diameter, and valve duration, rather than air filter restriction. I really don't think using an oversize cone filter will do anything unless you address the other restrictions to air flow first.
Of course, only flow tests will confirm my suspicions.
Test away and report back.

Thanks for the reply! cheers
We know that we have very little air flow through the entrance of the air box.
We drill the air filter box to solve this, so I thought it was a better idea.
There is the issue of water that could get there ..
Winter is long, we have plenty of time to think about how to introduce more air into the cylinders.
More air more power! Wink

Don't forget that more air = more power only if you add more fuel.

If you want to drill your air box, go for it. I believe several forum members have done dyno and flow testing of their engines in conjunction with a Power Commander. I'm not sure if they drilled their air boxes or what the outcome was.

Add gasoline is the easiest thing.
Stok, Silver Wing works rich AFR at 11.0,
The EU PC3 map is less gasoline and works much better.
I already drilling the air filter box and feels that the engine draws more air on those holes...
I apologize for my bad English! Embarassed

Those 38 little holes look good.
I personally would rather run rich at an AFR of 11 than lean. There's nothing worse than off-idle stumbling and poor throttle response caused by a lean AFR. I also don't like the excessive engine heat produced by running lean.
The reason I don't have a Power Commander is because I only have Mac computers. Last time I checked the Power Commander software was not Mac compatible and I don't like Parallels or Boot Camp.
BTW, your English is very good. Keep on posting.
