| -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Did you ever wonder why there are no dead penguins on the ice in Antarctica - where do they go ?
Wonder no more ! ! !
It is a known fact that the penguin is a very ritualistic bird which lives an extremely ordered and complex life.
The penguin is very committed to its family and will mate for life, as well as maintaining a form of compassionate contact with its offspring throughout its life.
If a penguin is found dead on the ice surface, other members of the family and social circle have been known to dig holes in the ice, using their vestigial wings and beaks, until the hole is deep enough for the dead bird to be rolled into and buried.
The male penguins then gather in a circle around the fresh grave and sing:
"Freeze a jolly good fellow"
"Freeze a jolly good fellow."
"Then they kick him in the ice hole."

| Penguins in Sweaters: The recent New Zealand oil spill left many penguins in need of warmth and protection. Sweaters were used to prevent the birds from preening their feathers and ingesting the toxic oil until they could be cleaned. People around the world knitted and donated enough sweaters to cover the little guys. For the top one I've created a photo caption contest HERE in the polls section, and in the bottom one, they look like they should have on roller skates. _________________ I ride on two wheels cause I feel very unsafe on one wheel.Dan in Miami. | Apparently the rescue centre was overwhelmed with hundreds on knitted waistcoats but the veterinarians decided that the penguins were too stressed by the wearing of them so there is a good opening for someone who has a use for lots of tiny woolen coats !!! |

They don't look all that unhappy.

Well our Australian cousins and indeed the South Africans use choppers to round up herds of whatever. So we utilised our little Wasp to round up a few penguins for a photo shoot!! |
