RIP to great driver who lost his life doing what he loved.

He died Sunday 16th racing the Indy 300 In Las Vegas.

I'm sure thoughts and prayers are with his family at this sad time.

Very tragic accident. I don't follow Indy racing, but the video has been shown everywhere. I am really sorry for his family.

A friend of mine is close friends with davey Hamilton, one of the drivers in the accident. When they spoke last night, Davey said it was the worst he had ever seen. May God be with Dan wheldon and his family.

Very sad day, indeed. He was truly one of the good guys. RIP, Dan.

Pippa Mann was injured in the wreck as well. I haven't seen specifics of her injuries, but she was able to walk to the ambulance, and is scheduled to be released today. They did have to work for a while to get her out of the car.

Pippa had a burnt ankle I believe!

Three other drivers were admitted to hospital but none with any serious injuries.

Good deal. I thought maybe she had injured her wrists or hands, the way she was holding them out as she was helped out of the car and to the ambulance. She definitely didn't trot on over to it in a carefree manor. She was supported.

Also, after seeing the on-board video from Will Power's car, he's lucky he wasn't killed as well. Indycar needs to start listening to their drivers. They were all concerned about racing at Las Vegas.

Always a tragedy when drivers, mechanics or spectators are killed or injured - how rarely it happens these days, thank goodness.

RIP, Dan Wheldon, his funeral was held in Fla. today. The world of racing lost a great Champion, our prayers and thoughts go out to his family. Indy-Car has to start listening to their Drivers concerns, they were all concerned about Las Vegas being a 1.5 mile track with so many cars going over 200 mph being bunched up and not much room to pass, it left no room for anyone making the slightest mistake to cause a tragic accident. They shoud limit Indy-Car racing to tracks such as California or Michigan with their 2 mile ovals and plenty of room for passing. Ride Safe...Robert in Az.

Not proving to be a good year for motor sport.

Marco Simoncelli died this morning at the Sepang racing circuit. Race red flagged after 2 laps!

Horrific crash, Marco veered off course and crashed then two riders rode into his body according to the press reports.

RIP to Marco.

I read reports about this earlier today. It said his helmet came off mid-crash. Ugh... how horrific. Seriously hope to not see any video of that. It will be interesting though, to see what they find out about the helmet coming off.

It's been a seriously bad week...
