PostSubject: Hi from Cockfosters, North London, U.K.   Fri Oct 07, 2011 11:33 am

No time here for an essay about my riding history - suffice to say that I still love this big clattering but ever-reliable workhorse, complete with extra large screen, handlebar muffs, Turcano Urbano apron, big top-box and extra loud airhorn, and the ability to really fly when she lifts up her skirts - to the astonishment of many car drivers.

But I'm especially grateful to a member of this forum who recently posted the instructions for how to re-set the `V' light that annoyingly lights up even when the belt is in first rate condition (or it was last time my garage showed me a few months ago).

More anon!

Hello and welcome from an ex-Whetstone and Finchley man, born and bred!
This is without doubt the best Silverwing forum in the World. Smile

PostSubject: It's a small world, but can't say I recognise you!   Fri Oct 07, 2011 2:13 pm

MikeO............thanks for the welcome........what a coincidence about our geographical proximity! Can't say i recognise you from your photo.
For years my SW was visible to all parked outside a certain well-known Accountants' diagonally opposite B&Q on the A1000.
Often wish they'd bring out a newer upgraded version but can't say I like the look of the chain-driven 700cc big-humped semi-motorbike Integra. Will just buy a newer 2nd hand SW with ABS.

Hi and welcome.
I grew up around North Finchley; now living near Nottingham and love riding in the Peak District.. Often travel to my son in Friern Barnet usually through Barnet and turn off at B&Q at Whetstone; occasionally coming through Cockfosters.
My Silverwing is referred to as Grandad's armchair, and I can ride all day on it. Do a lot of touring, usually get to the Alps each year.
Enjoy yourself and find much useful info here

Thanks for all the welcomes.

For the Texans I can explain that Cockfosters is the (genuine....but was embarrassing to say when we first moved here) name of a suburb of north London, and has its own Tube station, the very last stop on the Picadilly line.

To Rogerscoot......again an incredible co-incidence that within 24 hours of joining 2 SW originating from my part of the globe have said `Hi'. Thanks for the welcomes.

Due to a big operation last year leaving me much weaker physically I've had to scale down my "big trip" ambitions and would now be content with doing John's End to John O Groats - as a starter to check out the bum soreness factor. But would love to do a European tour before the grim reaper comes knocking.

Ah! So it was your Silverwing parked there - I often looked at it as I passed.
