I may be looking for a new rear tire sooner than expected. Has anyone used the Michelin Pilot Sport SC tire on wet pavement? What was your feelings of the traction, versus other tires?

Thanks,
Chris

I have them and not terribly impressed with them. I wish they offered the city grips or the now defunct gold standards.

To be honest, I'm finding that riding in the rain with Pirelli Diablos is still nerve wrecking for me. It's been pouring hard (as desert torrents can often do) and I'm scared enough & feeling funny leaning over too much on wet pavement. That could be me and not the tires, but I always felt less traction on this bike than my former ones. It didn't help that tonight, I got over to the right lane, only to find I nearly lost traction totally due to wet sand and gravel on the road. I never saw it as that spot is poorly lit at night. Rains here tend to wash a lot of crap off the shoulders and sidewalk and the pavement ends up with gravel, sand and landscape rocks all over the road, even out toward the center. A sudden acceleration while over that and you can feel the rear wheel fishtail. I know you have been a fan of Pirellis, so just go with what you know to be best.

Chris, I think you may be a far better rider in the rain, due to your experience of being near Seattle and the general lightness of the raindrops there.

+1 on the City Grips, BTW. I love their tread pattern.

Yes...but where can I get City Grips in our size??? They do have a great tread pattern.

they aren't made- that's why you can't get them. Michelin only offers the pilot sport SC for the Silver Wing. (go to michelin website and search the motorcycle fitment guide and you will only see the pilot sports for the s'wing.
