i have ridden my swing over 50000 miles and have ridden into birds, bees, and stones hurled by trucks and cars... and one unidentified bug that hit me in the polycarbonate glasses i was wearing with such force and so suddenly that i am convinced that it would have taken out my eye.
SO! even if wearing a full face helmet, remember that you sometimes lift the visor for a breath of fresh air or whatever and your eyes are then left unprotected. Never let that happen!! always have eye protection. always.
that bug hit me so suddenly that i never saw it before or after. but it would have blinded me. the glasses were moved but not broken and my eye was untouched. see you somewhere on the road. ride safe.

I always wear raybans during the day under my Full Face helmet , stops the glare , & doubles up a eye protection

Worst experience i have seen was a Biker being taken out by a pheasant flying across a country road at low level, hit him straight in the face, smashed his Visor & he went down in a ditch, fortunately apart from a few scars around the nose & some bruising he was OK, bike was pretty smashed up though

I hope this never comes back to haunt me, but I only wear a skull cap and only about 2/3 of the time. I do wear sunglasses during the day, and protective eyewear at night.

u p Tom,
Thank you for your note. It is good advice for everyone and very much appreciated. It is too easy to forget in the hot sun and make a big mistake. Thank you for taking the time to write it.

I sure agree. I have always had a full face shield. Plus I wear sunglasses under that also.
I had a friend in high school, oh 40 years ago, who was riding out my road. He had a helmet and eye protection on but no face shield or windshield. A bird flew suddenly into his mouth affraid and he went off the road and shattered his hip. He has limped all his life. After that I never ever considered not riding with a face shield and of course a helmet all the time.
