| Hello everyone, i just joined the forum, been lurking for a short time. I've been looking at downsizing from my 2000 Honda Valkyrie Interstate since i haven't been going on long (2000 mile round trip) camping trips like i used to do. When looking at some of the ads people post they will sometimes say their bike has ABS - I know it was an option on the SWing but how do i confirm that the ABS option is really on the bike they are advertising. I've been riding for 20 years and I've seen a lot of bikes - mostly BMWs with ABS, they have a toothed ring on the hub for a sensor to read the wheel speed and modulate the brakes when ABS is active. On the cheepo Chinese 250cc scooter we have there is a small valve mounted to the front brake line that is labeled "ABS" i'm not positive how it works but i haven't looked up the front brake on it in the 10000 miles we've ridden it. My BIL bought a 2002 that was advertised as having ABS (not available in the US if i read correctly) and i dont believe it has ABS - just the normal linked braking for Rear/Front brake via the 3rd caliper piston.
so how does one verify ABS is on a Silverwing? |

| The pulser ring on the wheels, under and of a smaller diameter than the brake disc. Also, there should be an ABS light on the dashboard that should only light if the ABS malfunctions.
Those are the two places I would look. |

| The ABS light illuminates when you switch the ignition on. It goes off when the scoot reaches a certain speed (8mph I think). After that it should only come on if there is a problem.

Or get Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and use
http://www.motoverse.com/tools/vinDecoder.asp
The response will show
... Model: FSC600A ...
"A" is ABS "D" is non-ABS
