Dokken was in town last night. I am not a big fan but went for the hell of it.

Back in late 2008 the local paper ran a series of story's about local WWII veterns and what they did in the war. The most interesting to me was about a Guy Named Mick Dokken so I wrote him after tracking down his address from Zaba search and asked him if he might take a look at the small collection my grand dad brought back. So I ended up meeting him and his wife at his home and I took some photos of the stuff he brought back. I ended up telling him more about his German helmet then he ever knew. At any rate while talking to him I said "you know Dokken is not that common of a name. I used to listen to a band in the 80's called Dokken". And he matter of factly told me that singer Dokken was his Uncle's Grandson. He being an 80 year old guy probably was not lying about it. So cool.

Year later I got a job at the hospital where his daughter in law worked and I asked her about it and she confirmed Mick was her father in law and yes they were related to Don Dokken though had never met him.

So it was cool to meet the whole Dokken clan last night and see Dokken live. The Dokken clan had never met Don Dokken till now.

I'd say there was about 500 people there at a local casino.
The only down side is the sound was so loud it did more then just make my ears ring. I was dead tired by 11:30 I went to bed and the next day my head still hurt but not like a normal headache, more like some sort of sonic damage. I don't know who thinks a band sounds better at that sort of volume.

Mike

I used to go to a local place here in town that pushed an avg of 30k watts in an old theater. It was LOUD, but with ear plugs it sounded better than at a low volume with out ear plugs. The tube amps work much better when they are pushed to the max and hot. Nice story and funny how you meet people and who knows or is related to who.
