I have an 04 SW with a Texas Sidecar. This is the second summer for the Hack. I do not think I would go back to two wheels. We rode a Goldwing for many years but quit touring on the bike so I decided to downsize so to speak. I love the SW and it performs very well with sidecar. I had a custom seat made and a J&M audio system installed and other than a Givi trunk and a Clearview windscreen the rest of the bike is stock. Once I figure out how to post a picture i will post a picture of my rig. Unfortunately I am no Bill Gates when it comes to computers. It is hard to retrain this old timer.

Welcome Bounder. Texas sidecar. Is that a longhorn tied to the right side of the bike? Or the left for our friends over the pond. There are detailed instructions for posting pictures. Just type posting pictures into the search function. It seems complicated to this luddite, but anything beyond a rotary telephone is complicated to me. Hope you can figure it out and post a picture of that rig.

My sidecar is made by the Texas Sidecar Co. therefore a Texas sidecar. Just google texas sidecar and you will find their site. When I decided to get a sidecar I spent a lot of time looking at different manufactures, all good by the way, and decided on a Texas because of the weight, style and the fact they had a specific installation kit for the Silver Wing. Weight was very important to me as I did not know how the SW would handle the rig. Texas sidecar has installed and sold a lot of sidecars to SW owners. In addition the owner, Bob Darden, could not have been more helpful. My Gold Wing had 88,000 miles when I sold it. That was accumulated over a number of years so that experience was quite helpful in my selection. I have also had other bikes along the way however other my GW the SW is the best. I considered a Burgmann 650 but the communication system was quite important to me. In talking with folks that install the equipment I was told they would no longer install on a Burgman because of the electronic gear shift which creates interference which could not be eleminated. So I went to the Silver Wing and I am not disappointed. This is a rather lengthly decipering of your question. I guess I am one of those people that when you ask what time it is I tell how to build a clock. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thank for interest.

Thanks Bounder. It was a genuine question. What is obvious to some isn't quite so obvious to others. Much apprecite your time answering.

I may just have to take a ride to the Texas Sidecar Company. They are only about an hour out of Dallas.

If you do get down to the TSC you will meet Bob Darden who is the owner. I have never met him personally but have corresponded and talked by phone with him numerous times. He is a very nice fellow and will do anything to help you. As you can imagine the side car commumity is rather small. Bob is well known and well respected.
