Another 2 years peace of mind!

Had a letter from Honda at the start of the month offering me another 2 years full Honda warranty with european roadside assistance from the AA, (thats Automobile Assoc. and not Alcoholics Anonymous!) Has to be done before the original 2 year warranty expires.

Decided today to have a nice ride out to the dealer and get more info and possible take up the offer. Well, decided to go for it, so that's another two years of no worrying about major bills or payouts. Not expecting the 'Wing' to break down but I figured, I have the money so may as well. After the ignition barrel packing up last year I thought you never know when anything will simple break.

Also got a price on the Honda variator tool, £51, next day delivery if in stock in the UK, 2 days if available in Europe. Not as expensive as I was expecting based upon comments on various sites.

Only down side to the day - it rained there and back. Seventy miles in the wet but I still enjoyed it, (even better with fresh rubber.)

How does a Silver wing Handle in the raid? My 250cc Silver wing copy made in china scares the day lights out of me in the rain. I don't ride in rain unless I get caught in it.

My wife and I rode our 03 for 220 miles in a monsoon from West Oklahoma to Tulsa two years ago. I could not see the white lines and the water was about 3" deep on the edge of the right lane. I stayed on the center line and only pulled over for the few cars that passed me. I ran at speeds of 40 to 60 mph the whole time. Not saying I was smart, but the Swing handled it well with no problems. BTW that was on two wheels. Before I triked out my 05.

Last year on my return from the Ride To The Wall* event in the Midlands I rode through prolonged torrential rain - in fact it was for the whole 200 miles/3½hrs - and my Silverwing didn't miss a beat.
I did get rather wet, not least because the heavy lorries seemed to be taking advantage of the poor visibilty to go as fast as they could and make as much spray as possible.
I was using the 'point-and-shoot' method of navigation - like Gary, I was unable to see the road markings deep under water.
The dot-matrix signs above the motorway were reading 'FLOODS'!

I probably should have got off but with a ferry to catch.....

Heavy rain (thunderstorms) in France and the Silverwing handled it without a problem. Plenty of tread on the tyres (Hoops) and reduced speeds were probably two factors. I certainly have every confidence in the scoot in wet conditions. As with any two wheeled transport, smooth riding is a major help in keeping the rubber down side up.

You fellers seems kinda crazy The Wall? Do you mean the Viet Nam Memorial? The Replica was in town here two weeks ago. I stopped by for a visit.

There is a place in the Midlands, UK, called the National Memorial Arboretum in which there are many memorials. There is a circular wall at the centre in memmory of the war dead. Follow the link in my previous post.

Er - not sure. I think it's now all wars in the same way that the Remembrance Day ceremony at the Cenotaph in London is all-encompassing.
It is of interest to me that now the dead are all included - there is no distinguishing between servicemen on both sides.

I visited your Viet Nam wall on a visit to Washington many years ago. What an emotional place. Had to leave, genuinely felt as if I was intruding on folks personal grief.

Also visited Arlington, your equivalent of the tomb of the unknown warrior and the Honour Guard that watched over it.

All war memorials have a certain poignancy about then and deserve the correct reverence shown.

I have yet to visit the Arboretum in the English midlands but I will. Just don't think I'm ready yet. Too many memories of those friends I have lost in combat.

I see. When I looked at the photos the style of memorial looked to be WWI.
