PostSubject: Added "600" chrome numbers above "Silver Wing"   Fri Aug 05, 2011 4:11 pm

I just added some chrome numbers above the existing "Silver Wing" letters so other bikers will know that this is a 600cc bike (okay, 582cc, but who's counting). I ordered the letters online

It has often annoyed me when other bikers think my SWing is "just a scooter" because they don't realize how big the engine is. I found a way to solve that problem. I mounted some chrome numbers above the "Silver Wing" letters which say "600". They are in a modern italic font, and they go perfectly with the italic Silver Wing letters. I've attached some pictures so that you can see what they look like. In case anybody else wants to do this, here is where I got them:

http://www.chromecarletters.com/
Click on "Chrome Lettering Kits" on the right side near the top.
Scroll down to 3/4" ITALICS SMALL STYLE.
Click the photo in the lower-left corner to see samples.

I ordered 8 letters - enough for "600" on both sides, plus an extra "6" and an extra "0" in case one of the mounted numbers falls off some day. It only cost me $23.50 including shipping (that's in the US).

Nice but it's too bad the italics "slant" doesn't match the Silver Wing slant

Now THAT is cool!!! I know ppl are always asking 'how fast can it go?' Their eyes get kinda big when I tell them I've had it up to 75 with power to spare, so I haven't REALLY seen how fast it goes, but there are no roads with speed limits of 75 anyway!! Shocked I guess most people equate 'scooter' with 'slow' ... not so with the Swing!! I LOVE IT!

FYI, one time (and ONLY one time) on a clear almost windless day riding down an almost empty and fairly straight highway I have had my SWing up to 105mph, and it still had more to give. Probably could have gotten to 110mph, but I was starting to catch up with traffic and had to slow down. I've never done it again, but at least now I know what it can do. I'm not recommending that anyone else do this. I'm just sharing the information.

Keep the rubber side down guys!

Craig... I did almost the same thing when I had my 03. I knew folks were gonna ask me how fast will that go. I was at 110 GPS and had a little more to get... but all I could think was " if something blows now.. where are they gonna find all of my body parts. "... now I do get up to 75 or 80 on freeway, but mostly go 50 to 65 depending on highway. I think my trike would go almost as fast as the two wheeler, but I don't have the balls to find out. Just knowing that the Silverwing has the power to go as fast as I ever want to is enough for me now.

BTW... I love the chrome numbers. I am going to look into that add on. Thanks for finding this.

Some time last year, I found chrome '600' badges on a site that sells bike decals. They're only stickyback foil type, but I put them after SilverWing and they look good. I was thinking of getting some for the front fairing too.

Tamjay I did the same but put them above Silverwing on the sides, and on the rear i put SW 600. I bought my chrome stickers numbers and capitals from Range Wharehouse stores. they were about 39-49 p each letter. Smile

I guess I'm the only one who thinks it doesn't look so good. To me the "600" should be the same size and font as the "Silver Wing" and it should be to the right, not on top. That would look like a factory emblem, not an add-on afterthought.
Sorry. dealwithit

Bird, its all good. Factory is good but non-factory is personalized.

BTW, given that you're in Winnipeg, is that mud or something a little more agricultural dropping down on your Smiley? Laughing
