| We have been riding for a couple of years . . . VERY PART-TIME!! We have some friends who ride and we'd like to take some weekend trips to nearby getaways. I'd like some info on saddlebags and/or trunks and the pros and cons from some 'seasoned veteran riders'!! Any info would be appreciated. We also have a friend who is looking to buy a Swing . . . 2002 - 2005 . . . close to South GA . . . in very good shape. Don & Donna |

I hold and store my two Shoei Multitech (XL and M) in my Givi E52 case.
During the school year I carry backpack, books and athletic gear. When I have gone shopping I have packed both E52 and internal storage.
My topcase is rarely if ever empty.
If something happened to my Givi E52 case, I would replace with a Givi E55 case.
So it depends on your requirements, how often used and to some people it comes down to appearance._________________ Bill - Georgetown TX 07 Silver Wing ABS Clearview w/vent, Givi E96/TB19/E52 with Admore Lighting, Alaskan Leather, Wrist Rests, 3M Solas tape, K&N air, Hyperpro spring, Grip Puppies, Airhawk, Utopia backrest, Stebel, Apexcone HIDs, StingerZ LEDs (w/Backoff WigWag), Knight Rider Sequential LED, NGK Iridium, Power Commander III, Manic Salamander, Saeng mirrors, Garmin Zumo 660, Dark-Side Sumitomo Tire |

| Welcome! Am looking for a top trunk myself. I'll be watching to see what comments are. Givi is nice, beautiful stuff, I was just hoping on something a little cheaper. Had Givi stuff in the past and it was a real winner. |

| Bob, Check out the Bestem top box. A lot less expensive than Givi and is quite good for most general top box applications. billc. |

I have posted about my top box here before but as you can imagine, there are as many opinions about top boxes as there are riders if not more. Frankly, I think that anyone considering a top box should think through what they want it for. If it's for hauling stuff like groceries, etc., or carrying less stuff while commuting, what's better might be a lot different than someone who wants a top box to help as a seat back for the passenger. Saddle bags can be a royal pain when carrying a passenger if you haven't tried them out with your passenger on the bike.
In any case, you might be best off trying to find a serious motorcycle outfitter in your area and ask them to show you the plusses and minuses of each so you can make side-by-side comparisons. While Columbus, Ohio isn't close, I use Iron Pony there. My guess is that there is something like it in the Atlanta area.
On a completely unrelated note, when I was growing up, my Uncle Art owned a hardware store in Monticello. Is that anywhere close?

| Want professional quality----Givi Box and rack. My Givi E-46 has over 500,000 miles and still going strong. Use it everyday----hole cut in top for dog's head to stick out.
Want cheap that works well? Try Sears, some of the colorful plastic tool boxes, bolted directly to rear spoiler (which I think has pre punched holes on bottom side), maybe stiffen floor of box with piece of plywood/want to be real fancy alu. truck decking....$30, add some reflectors and you are in business. Work great and are not clamshell design.
Remember adding weight high and far behind rear axle centerline is not a handling improvement.
I cannot live without top box of some sort. |

| I agree with J. Grinsel about the Givi quality. Bought the E55 recently and love it. Would love to bring my Boston Terrier along but I can't see cutting a hole in top of this one. Did not do much research for top boxes so I jumped straight to the Givi which has the built in LED brake lights. In all, my rear visibility from those behind me increased. Just for curiosity, has anyone had one of these quick release top boxes pop off during a bumpy ride. Lots of pot holes around.

Givi has optional colored tops ( http://www.giviusa.com/cases/optionals/C55-- ). I wonder how easy they would be to replace so you could swap out as necessary._________________ Bill - Georgetown TX 07 Silver Wing ABS Clearview w/vent, Givi E96/TB19/E52 with Admore Lighting, Alaskan Leather, Wrist Rests, 3M Solas tape, K&N air, Hyperpro spring, Grip Puppies, Airhawk, Utopia backrest, Stebel, Apexcone HIDs, StingerZ LEDs (w/Backoff WigWag), Knight Rider Sequential LED, NGK Iridium, Power Commander III, Manic Salamander, Saeng mirrors, Garmin Zumo 660, Dark-Side Sumitomo Tire |

| Bill, I'm going to take a closer look at detaching the top. They're pretty well made and I didn't expect an easy detachment.......Just went out to see. There are hingepins that might could be tapped out easy enough. If so, you're the man.
Thanks, Gar |

| How do the Bestem boxes mount? The directions on line do not match my scoot (09). Still leaning toward Givi. How much do I expect to pay for Givi trunk and mount? Is it DIY friendly to mount or what?

| The sr19 mount is 50 bucks on ebay Bob. The cases range in price.
4 holes mount the plate to the rear spoiler. You can DIY. |

Bill, if I remember right, the tops you mention are a second layer on top of the basic top.
