My Honda NT700V is now almost 4 months old----7,000 miles. Some comparisons, takes more muscle and skill to ride than scooter---I am primary motorcyclist, with lots of miles but for the past 40 years have always had scooter on the side-- like the dry feet thing.
Purpose of purchase: Re-build skills after stroke, make sure I am re-training my muscles to do the right thing. Bike is about as heavy as SilverWing, but pushes around much harder---good exercise. You won't see me on a trike---I had sidecar outfits for 40 years and think they are better way to go, but do take real skill to ride right. My re-training works.
Wind management is much better on NT
Think gas mileage on NT might be a little better----57.8 mpg since purchase on computer---go real fast, SilverWing uses much more
Both my scooter and bike had/have OEM Bridgestone tires--some care and they go about 10,000 a set----I don't like Bridgestone due to several failures underway in the past 20 years....but they work....at least on SilverWing and NT...but have funny wear patterns.
NT is much easier to work on and takes less diddle time. Same oil filter as SilverWing, available at WalMart----WalMart 10-40 oil working fine.
Comfort---real hot SilverWing, high speed NT----but there are idiots out there with NT's with raised bars, highway pegs and cup holders....trying to out guess Honda, or wishing they had HD or GoldWing.
Tire costs are less on scooter.
So where am I going-----NT is not bike for beginner or person with low 2 wheel skills.
Will ride a year and trade as I usually do----Will buy another scooter----but sure hope there are some new developments in the 250cc and up class.
My down the street Honda Dealer still have left over 2010 scooters.
SilverWing may be more fun for me and dog----bike he has to ride in Givi box, scooter "tank bag" in hump. bag seems better for naps.
