| Hi everyone. I'm a soon to be proud owner of an '08 Swing. I am from Louisville, KY and I have been riding since August. I got the itch from a friend and wanted to commute. I was having trouble deciding between a scooter and a cycle until I took the MSF course. I loved riding, but shifting seemed to be an unnecessary pain in the ass in stop n go traffic. I passed the MSF, got my license and put a deposit down on a Kymo Yager 200. I've ridden it since then, even in the dead of winter, down to 8f. I am also a bicyclist and I love touring and getting out into the countryside. I started riding on the weekends with my buddy and the deficiencies of the Yager soon became obvious. The Yager can do backroad speeds but I have no headroom at that point. I can't pass or speed past trouble if need be. Handling and stability becomes compromised much past 45 mph. I wouldn't consider myself a racer by any means, but I do like a spirited ride through the twisties. It became obvious in March that I needed something more. With my financial situation I can not afford two bikes. So I started looking at the different maxi scooters. I almost pulled the trigger on the Kymco Downtown 300i but it doesn't feel comfortable in the foot-forward position, even for a guy like me with a 29" inseam. I sat on a Majesty and while it was definitely nice, the handlebars contacted my thighs in tight turns and it lost stability at highway speeds too. I realized then that I wanted a maxi with a frame mounted engine. The complexity of the tranny on the Burgman 650 scares me some, so I decided to set my sihts on a Silver Wing. Last Saturday I went and test rode one and it was love at first ride. It fits me perfectly and has as much power as I will ever realistically need. Feels stable at speed and will pass with no problems. I came back this week and got loans and insurance taken care of and tomorrow I go back to the dealer to pick it up. It is about 80 miles away and they're not taking the Yager as a trade in so I can't do it alone. My wife can't help until tomorrow so that is the reason for the insufferable delay. My first order of business will be to do the HyperPro spring upgrade. I am a good-sized guy(245) so I want something that feels solid and this sounds like a great upgrade. I am small enough that I did not have any real buffeting issues so the windscreen can wait, if I change it at all. Anything else I think would be purely for fun so I can wait on those too, but I see a J Costa and Maxi-Fly clutch in my future Thanks for reading, I'm looking forward to learning all I can about my new baby! | Hi and welcome Aidan, the best way to learn as you will be aware is to RIDE.
The 'Wing' is a machine that loves miles. |

| Aidan, Welcome. I would also suggest the Mirror Extensions as something I would put on my priority list. I think they are less than $20 and will be a great benefit to your riding enjoyment. billc. |

That's what I'm looking forward to. My current scoot starts to feel small after an hour or two of getting blown around and passed by faster traffic.
I can't wait to get it out in the morning and ride all day with no destination in mind! |

| Just wanted to give you all an update and post some baby pictures! Picked the Swing up on Sat. as expected and the ride home was wonderful, mostly. The wife was following in our car so I had to stay pretty docile. I got stuck behind a slow moving vehicle and didn't want to pass for fear of losing her because there are not many opportunities for a car to pass on this road. They finally turned off the road and I got to open her up and all I can say is WOW! At speeds where my Yager would be topped out and breathing heavily She had plenty of room to run. The end of the trip was about 10 miles of interstate and I felt extremely comfortable knowing I had power to spare if the need arose. Did some in-town riding too and it is a very balanced machine. I could tell the difference between it, with the frame mounted plant, versus the Majesty that I test drove last week with the swingarm mounting. Had to ride to work in the rain this morning. I live in KY so we have been dealing with rain for the last two weeks solid almost. It sucks. This thing begs for a bright Saturday with no predetermined route. Enough chatter, here is the pic. |

| Rain isn't so bad if you have a helmet with a face shield and rain gear. That SW will roll a lot faster than you think, I've had my '04 up to 108mph as measured with a GPS. At over a ton it feels as solid as it did at 50mph. You might want to ride it awhile before changing the fork springs. The fork is pretty stiff already, and most of your weight will be on the rear wheel anyway. Try some different settings on the shocks first. |
