| I am getting a squeaking or squealing noise from maybe the drive belt area when I first take off. It goes away, but would love to verify that it is not something bad. Anybody had this before. The bike is a 2005 and only has 4900 miles on it. It had 4600 on it when I bought it in January.
Thanks in advance! |

| We have all had it. It seems to be common to the breed. There are a bunch of posts about "cures". |

| D,
This happens when the clutch gets glazed over, usually by slow stop and go traffic, or just always taking off from a stop really slow. To get rid of this you can hold in one of the brakes and rev it up to 4,000 rpms for about 4-5 seconds. You will get a slight burning smell but this will take away the squeal. My SWing is 4 years old and I do this a few times a year or so. It will also smooth it out too.
If you don't want to do this then just do some fast accelerations from a stop and don't take off slowly anymore. See if it works. _________________ Ride safe, JeffR 2007 Silver Wing (30,000 miles) 2005 Majesty 400 (sold 12,500 miles) 2004 Reflex (sold 3,500 miles) Givi Windshield, top case, vista cruise, power commander, dr pulley sliders, air hawk seat pad, (J. | Hey all, I get what I can only describe as a squeak at takeoff which I think must be the drive belt? Any thoughts? Cheers

| Thanks Doug, I'll give her the "front brake on, 4000rpm " treatment tomorrow. |
