| I am getting a squeaking or squealing noise from maybe the drive belt area when I first take off. It goes away, but would love to verify that it is not something bad. Anybody had this before. The bike is a 2005 and only has 4900 miles on it. It had 4600 on it when I bought it in January.
Thanks in advance! |

| We have all had it. It seems to be common to the breed. There are a bunch of posts about "cures".

| D,
This happens when the clutch gets glazed over, usually by slow stop and go traffic, or just always taking off from a stop really slow. To get rid of this you can hold in one of the brakes and rev it up to 4,000 rpms for about 4-5 seconds. You will get a slight burning smell but this will take away the squeal. My SWing is 4 years old and I do this a few times a year or so. It will also smooth it out too.
If you don't want to do this then just do some fast accelerations from a stop and don't take off slowly anymore. See if it works. |

| Hey all, I get what I can only describe as a squeak at takeoff which I think must be the drive belt? Any thoughts? Cheers

| Loads on here, use the search facility it will save folk rewriting the manual on 'Wing' squeaks!!!!! I'll see if I can dig out a few links. |

| Thanks Doug, I'll give her the "front brake on, 4000rpm " treatment tomorrow. |
