| Hi, picked up my light (34260-SH3-004) from my local car dealership, with taxes and all, it was $30.00. Popped the old out, carefully unplugged the wiring, plugged the new light in, popped it into the hole, fit like a glove, now my luggage light reflects the elegance of the rest of the bike. It was worth the 10 0r so Chinese flashlights I could have gotten at Wal-Mart just to allow my ride to ooze a bit more sophistication. I also installed my new Airflow which was delivered yesterday; life is good. Can hardly wait for the weather, etc. Pendragon, '06 SWing 600A, '97 Valkyrie Tourer, '06 ST1300A (just sold) |

Will you be giving tours of your underseat storage with newly installed SWITCHABLE light? |

| Well, Comic_Stumper, You put "bling" on some rides (Goldwings,Valkyries, etc) and you put "Farkles" on others (SWing,ST1300,etc) The point being that farkles add to safety, convenience, and charm without being obnoxiously tacky, but of course you would know that being damn near the city of brotherly love, eh? :-)

Yes, those $30 switchable trunk lights are sure to impress us practical flatlanders out here on the windswept prairie.
Thank goodness for $3 Walmart LED Chinese made flashlights. I don't know how I could possibly check anything on my Swing at night, other than the trunk contents, with an adorable switchable non-moveable trunk light. I think I'm going to have to make a special trip out to BC just to have a look at this marvel of engineering. What other practical farkle and impractical sparkle is your Swing festooned with?

| There, there, Big Bird, :-) no sparkles, just farkles; I have the afore-mentioned coveted switchable light (choir please) plus the ubiquitous Givi Airflow, have a J&M 2003 CB I'm adding just as soon as I can get to it, have figured out an elegant sophisticated antenna mount (in harmony with the switchable light of course) am adding a powerlet socket with adaptors to power a mini-compressor to go along with my stop & go tire plugging kit, and adding H/L modulator and extra brake lights with modulator, heated grips, grenade launcher, not festooned, you understand, just modestly equipped. :-) :-) Pendragon, sometimes referred to as Desperate Dude. |

| Hey Pendragon: Your ride sounds like a complete Wet Coast Swing-a Ding-a-Ling, whatever that might be. Good for you. Coming to Winterpeg soon for a show and shine at Portage & Main? Actually, the Forks is much more appropriate for that. You know I'm funning with you. Enjoy. You'll be riding way before I will. The wind chill today in Winnipeg is currently -32C. Now who's laughing at who? |

If you installed them on your Farkelized Swing they'd be hot air bags. |

| Iiiii.....read this full post and as I was taking notes was careful not to miss a single word. Reguarding the under seat light....the way i see it....we all have five choices......
1.Use the the light that comes with the swing while not being so absent minded as to make sure the seat is closed so the battery wont drain.
2.Order a replacement with a switch that is pretty much plug and play so we wont need to buy "10 or so chinese flashlights".
3.Wire the underseat light to the blinker so its always off until you "Turn LEFT"....LMAO....
4."Remove the Freaking Bulb" seems the be the more frequent recommendation, but i think we should remove the Dxxx light altogether.
5.After you install the 12v plug in the front left compartment, i think u should buy a 1000w hunting spotlight, "Remove the Freaking Bulb from the light under the seat, make Dxxx sure you never turn left and buy "10 or so chinese flashlights" to give as christmas gifts to our friends who dont need them.
In short, what works for me....#1....keep the seat closed so the freaking bulb stays unlit.....OR.....if I were so absent minded to remember to close the seat....i would "REMOVE THE FREAKIN BULB"......HILARIOUS!
Now, I have an idea. remove the underseat light ASSEMBLY and wire an automatic coffee maker to the wiring....that way i can have hot coffee while im looking for my 1000w hunting spot light in the dark because its lost under the seat next to the coffee maker....... |

Very difficult to accomplish 100% of the time. I don't think there's 1 forum member who hasn't at one time or another thought their seat was fully closed and locked when it wasn't.
The one and only 100% foolproof solution is to remove the bulb.
Since I replaced my stock light with the automotive switchable light, guess how many times I used that new light during the riding season? Answer? Not once. It was still easier to use my cheap Chinese LED flashlight that I leave strapped under the rubber band which secures the tool pouch and owner's manual. |

| "Remove the Bulb"....lol.....now where would u get an idea like that.......im on my way to buy "ten or so chinese flashlights" AND a coffee maker :-)......I cant believe I was so absent minded as to forget the #6 option......buy a bic cigarette lighter in case none of the lights work.

I guess that I'm the only ONE. Somewhat anal retentive in that area. But, I did remove the silly bulb. Since I NEVER ride at night (by choice) I also don't have a cheap flashlight under the seat (a small mag-lite in the glove box is my choice).

| im just having fun, i did act absent minded and forget to close the seat, but then i made a life changing decision and started remembering to close the seat(listen for the click)....just like i started remembering to turn off my grip warmers that are directly wired to the battery. Amazing how when i remember, the battery is always hot! I learn something new everyday, i never realized that the left turn signal was also the on/off switch for the underseat light :-)......P.S. Im sending all my Swinger friends a butane lighter for christmas this year.....if step 1-5 dont work, use the lighter. |
