PostSubject: Adding coolant to your Swing   Thu Feb 24, 2011 1:16 pm

I have randomly check the coolant level of my 2003 Swing over my 4 years ownership.
This week, it was at the LOW marker, so I removed the fairing box and refilled to the top mark (per the owners manual).
My question is : Have you ever had to add coolant to your Swing? Is my loss of fluid over the years "normal" attrition, or should I look further for a leak. There are no visible signs of leaking coolant on my floor, or anywhere I look on the Swing.
Thanks, billc.

Cause the reserve tank is no sealed container it may evaporate a little fluid over the time.

Maybe this thread should be moved out of the "Introductions" section into somewhere more appropriate?

Terry,

Thanks for the heads up. I read this post but didn't notice it was in introductions.

billc,

I have never even checked my level yet for the coolant so I don't know if it is normal to lose any. I wouldn't let it concern you since it has been 4 years though. Thanks for the post since I'm sure others will go out and check their level. I know I will this weekend.

I have noticed my coolant is on the lower level and would like a drop before setting of on a big trip next week.

Question please as I have no manual about.... I see that Billc says "remove the fairing box", I guess this is the box above the coolant tank on the right hand side of the bars?

So, how do you get it out?? I have tried wiggling it out with a screwdriver but this doesn't seem right at all Smile

Thanks for that, d/l and saved!!

30 secs with a screwdriver, and about 100ml put in the system, so hardly critical Smile
