PostSubject: End of Winter    Wed Feb 16, 2011 8:12 pm

One and a half weeks and winter is over for me . We are supposed to get a big snow dump tomorrow so I loaded the bike on the trailer today while the trailer and driveway are dry .
First of March we are headed to Newbraunfels Texas .
Hopefully 40 days of good riding weather in Texas hill country
Last year We were supposed to go to Florida ,I went to the hospital instead to get my heart overhauled .
I am pumped and ready to go .

Hey Darrel.
When you first told me about your trip last Fall it seemed so far away. Time really does fly. I look forward to riding with you again on your return. Perhaps you can take some pics down in Texas and post them on here.
Have fun with Joan and friends. Be safe.
Terry

Come on down. Just don't bring your weather with you like an unnamed Chicagoian did. New Braunfels is a beautiful area. It has a very rich and colorful history. I hope you enjoy your visit. flower

The weather in March is fantastic. The Blue Bonnets can be very pretty to look at.

I have ridden around New Braunfels many times ..
- Eat at Coopers Barbeque (Gary and Dennis liked the food)
- Ride the River Road (remember this Gary and Dennis ?)
- Ride around Canyon Lake

Hi Terry ,we should be ridding here by the time I get back
about the 9th of April .See you then . When you start your bike in the spring ,turn the key on and off slowly about three times .It will start way easier .

That sounds like a good idea to get the fuel pump primed and the system pressurized after sitting so long.

My Swing has been in the attached garage all winter. Very little temperature fluctuation. The lowest it got in there was -5C, the warmest +4C.
I will definitely take your advice.

"Hi-Yo" wasn't my fault you got snow. You got even more snow after I left. We didn't have that much snow till after I got back from Texas. You put the jinx on me some how. We got up to around 60 today but it was wet between the drizzle and the snow melting. I had to work so I didn't get out for a ride. Saw a couple of bikes and a scooter though.

Enjoy your warm weather. Rolling Eyes

No mention of the Gruene Hall. Did you not trust Gary and Dennis in an old time Texas dance hall. I was told that George Strait was once the house band and many Austin musicians have performed there.

I am really enjoying my time in Texas .So far we have done over 600 miles.
Didn't ride much yesterday ,to hot .We went to Grune hall and listened to music .The riding here is awesome ,the traffic is light in the hills .The people
are very friendly . I like this way better than Mexico .So far have not seen any blue bonnets ,maybe we have to go east to see them ,I thought they would be every where .

I use my LD Comfort gear to help with the tempartures
liner - all the time
shirt - as needed
pants - as needed or long distance

This time of year I just put on the LD Comfort, when it gets hotter ... I add water to provide evaporation cooling for a couple of hours.

I was using my liner yesterday, while building the garden fence.

flower Glad you're enjoying your time in Texas. It's a little early for the bluebonnets. I think April is when they really begin to put on their show especially to the west around the LBJ ranch and Johnson City. Don't you feel a little bit guilty saying it's too hot to ride in March. They may revoke your Canadian citizenship. flower

The snow missed us. You can come home now, and bring some of that warm Texas weather with you. I don't think I'll have my Swing out now until the 1st week of April. It's been a really slow melt and for the next 5 days the temps aren't even supposed to crack the freezing mark..
