PostSubject: Engine oil level check.   Sun Feb 06, 2011 2:40 pm

Hi all,

Could someone tell me please the correct method for checking engine oil level, as i do not have an owners manual.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The engine should be run for as long as it takes the oil to get warm, usually 3+ minutes of driving or 5 minutes of idling. Place the bike on the centre stand. Let the bike sit for at least 5 minutes to allow the oil to drain from the upper engine regions back into the sump.
Remove the dipstick, wipe it clean and then place it back into the oil filler hole. Let the dipstick rest in the hole, but do not screw the dipstick back into the crankcase. Pull the dipstick out and look at the oil level. It should be between the 2 marks, preferably at the upper mark.
