PostSubject: Working on Gary's Scooter   Thu Aug 26, 2010 9:13 am

Hi All,

As you already know, Gary and I, will be doing some electrical up grades to Gary's new scooter. New horn, Headlight modulator, rear brake flasher, Power outlet in left glove box, Driving lights, and a bunch of other stuff.

My garage door faces to the East, right into the rising Sun. It's very hot out there during the morning. Ordered this 9'x9' canopy for around $30.00 from Wal-Mart and installed it on the front of the garage. These pictures were taken at about 10:00 AM and you can see the GREAT shade it provides.

Staying Cool in the Shade....

Hang a bedsheet across the front of that thing and you'll get a whole lot more shade.

Dennis... looks nice... It has been cooler here the last few days. Maybe the 100 F stuff is over.

Dan, come on up and hold an umbrella for us, or at least send your brother David. Smile Would love to have you.

As a little update for some of you that might be interested in what all this fuss is over. The last report from Trinity told me my kit should be ready by end of September or early October. This trip is to get some of the extra mods done before we get to the triking stage. Don't really care if it takes them a little longer to get kit done. I know it is getting close. I believe my wife is more excited now than I am. Heaven knows that I can't get her excited any more.Rolling Eyes When all this is over, it going to be so worth the wait. Life is good.

Dennis,

Looks like that will work great. Is it still hot there and hopefully you have a fan too.

Gary,

I hope and Dennis take plenty of pics as you do this. You may even want to ask if Trinity would like some special pictures too. You might get on their website.

Best of luck to both of you as you do this and you will be the "subject matter experts" on this when you complete it.

For what it's worth -- photos of Trinity's proprietary bits might not be real welcome on the Web from Trinity's point of view.

I for one would like to see all of the little bits and pieces that make up the final drive, brakes, etc. Glad that the project is on track.

Best of luck to both of you.

Jon... not sure of any proprietary details you are referring to. I guess I will check with BOB about that when we start the project. Thanks for the suggestion. As for the little pieces you mentioned, you are welcome to come see for yourself when the kit arrives. You can help read step one figure 1-a instructions. Dan, or his brother David may be there too. Laughing

Dennis,

You should play a practical joke on Gary and put both of the back tires on the front. Twisted Evil

Come on Jeff... I may be from Arkansas, but I am smart enough to know that NOBODY in their right mind would put TWO wheels on the FRONT of a scooter or motorcycle. Razz What a joke...

It was definitely a european country, but before a stunt like that they say the same thing all over the world, and in every language, that they say in Arkansas:
"Y'all hold my beer and watch this."

If you absolutely HAVE to have 4 wheels, I'd rather it be something like this:

It's a youtube embedded video. Looks interesting. Kinda like an MP3 with 2 wheels in back and 2 in front. Here's the link I got from the video if you can't see it here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2OJa-vWEaE

Jon, I have learned a new degree of patience waiting for the kit to hit the floor. Trinity has had some designing issues to over come as well as some other things. I am anxious to get the kit and get it installed, and that will happen soon. Since this is a new product for Trinity, I want them to get it right. When it does reach me, I want things to fit and not have any gremlins pop up after getting the thing put together and on the road.

In the mean time, I have suffered a mild stroke that has put a little damper on my enthusiasm all around. The stroke primarily manifested itself in slurred speech. However, I do have a little lag in energy as well as loss of appetite. I am improving and have been riding my scooter regularly. My wife and I, along with Honda_Silver (Bill) and DennisB (Dennis) are planning an exciting trip through east and south Texas next week. Looks like about 5 or 6 days traveling. Sure would be nice if it were on a trike, but it is going to be nice to get out and see some new country before the weather gets too bad to enjoy. Triking will come shortly after we get back. I look forward to both the trip we have planned as well as, the conversion to follow.

Sorry to hear about the stroke but am glad you're improving. Looks like you guys will be having a fun and exciting time! I agree -- it's smarter to wait till Trinity gets everything right than becoming their guinea pig like my friend for the Tow Pac reverse assist. He was sold a bill of goods for his wife's Silver Wing trike and the darn thing couldn't even get over the little 1/2 inch bump from the garage to the driveway. Patience is smart, even if it drives us a little batty!

Gary,
Sorry to hear of the stroke. Glad it was not severe and also glad that you are doing well.

The Trinity folks web-site tells me that they are still looking for the local sucker, no I mean donor bike for the Silverwing conversion. They are offering the grand sum of $1000 discount! They are frequent contributors and a sponsor of the www.triketalk.com site. This is a pretty good site for all of us with add-on wheels.

I sure hope for your sake that the three of you don't go down to So. Padre on the trip. I've driven a car down there several times and was very glad it was a car, not a motorcycle/scooter. Talk about empty Sleep
