PostSubject: Hwy 395 to Mono Lake   Mon Jul 05, 2010 2:51 am

After that fun downhill ride and the stretch through the Marines training area Hwy 108, Sonora Pass ends at Hwy 395. From here I head south to Lee Vining, I haven't eaten since the night b4 so I'm famished food and gas was on my mind. There's a view point just b4 you go down to Mono Lake and man, what a view I couldn't enough of it, I hated to go so soon. As a kid you ever take a bike up hill then ride down free wheelin' and you heart just pounds away as you pick up speed and you just can't help but scream w/joy and you wish the road just keeps going? That's how I felt going down from the view point but instead
of screaming I'm jammin jazz tunes on my iPod and recording the experience w/my camera, noless, and I'm not even half way thru the ride yet. At Lee Vining I gas up and get something to eat across the street from Chevron. 45 minutes later I'm south bound on Hwy 395.
The plan was to ride Hwy 120 to Benton then take Benton Crossing rd back, go thru Mammoth Lake then do the June Lake Loop. Instead I rode the Loop 1st then hit Hwy 120 and not even half way, I made a U turn. It was around 2pm and I had close to 300 miles to go yet b4 I get home.

I really enjoy your watching your excellent travel footage. But I'm surprised that while you were on the eastrern side on 395, you did not head up to Onion Valley. It's just west of Independance. What a view from there. May be some day...I hope.
