Since I've just joined the scooter crowd, I'm wondering how many miles or months does it take before your left foot stops wanting to downshift and upshift. I don't even want to think about pulling in the clutch. It is really nice to just twist the throttle and see people in your rearview mirror who were laughing at you at the last stoplight. I can't wait for spring when the days I ride outnumber the garage days.

Wow, sounds like you have went thru the scooter learning curve. Let the SWingless people laugh. lol. but i can stay up with most of em, excluding crotch rockets. Don't miss the shifting a bit. The SW is just a great ride.
Had a goooood 300 hundred mile ride on Sunday, weather was great for a change, and most of the bikers knew the SW and were pleasant, most that I met had never even tried to see their top end speed, I know mine, lol.
115 mph and still 200 rpms to the redline.

What are gears?

My left foot sits very relaxed up against the tupperware enjoying the view knowing my left and right hands have the whole 'Wing' experience in hand.

My Harley buddy asked me if I miss shifting. I told him it was not an issue since the bike seems to be in the right gear all the time.

I do have to fake shift when I follow him, as when he shifts i have to slow down to keep from hitting him. If I am leading he has to speed shift to keep up. Smile

I don't miss the shifting, but the old muscle memory takes over sometimes and I find myself moving that left foot. I think part of it was riding with a bike that had floorboards, so I'm used to having my feet rest flat. I hope it doesn't work the other way and I find myself waitng for my old bike to shift itself. So far I'm loving this shiftless life.

I thought I was doing OK but now I realize I am leading a shiftless life and have no plans to change.

I had to be careful when I first got my SW to avoid going for the clutch. For the first week I carefully kept my left hand on the grip and didn't use that brake. Now that I've had eight months to get used to the thing it's no problem, I can shift between my Silverwing, Goldwing and motorized bicycle with no fumbles. I was worried I'd screw up riding the big Wing after being on the scooter for a few days but there hasn't been any problem with that. So far.
