| I know there are at lest three members on this forum that have the Danson Kit installed. To add to this topic. How much did the kit installation drop your gas mileage and how does it handle at highway speeds? I was thinking...if a person installed a trike kit on their Silverwing would it be a good idea to install a Darkside tire on the drive wheel for the added tire wear advantage? If a person gets a flat on the rear drive wheel when a Danson trike kit is installed, how much work is it to remove the rear wheel for repairs? |

| Hi Jim, Darkside tires are car tires that fit the rear wheel of the Silverwing. Lots of informed people on this forum that can answer your questions better then me. |

Most have tried the Sumitomo 165/70TR13 a few have tried others.
A lot of trikes convert the rear tire to a darkside tire for longevity with the trike as well as the radial tire remove some shock._________________ Bill - Georgetown TX 07 Silver Wing ABS Clearview w/vent, Givi E96/TB19/E52 with Admore Lighting, Alaskan Leather, Wrist Rests, 3M Solas tape, K&N air, Hyperpro spring, Grip Puppies, Airhawk, Utopia backrest, Stebel, Apexcone HIDs, StingerZ LEDs (w/Backoff WigWag), Knight Rider Sequential LED, NGK Iridium, Power Commander III, Manic Salamander, Saeng mirrors, Garmin Zumo 660, Dark-Side Sumitomo Tire |

| While not the Danson kit we did have a 12" wheel Tow-Pac kit ( www.tow-pacinc.com ) installed on the wife's SW this spring and have put about 5,000 miles on it since.
Fuel burn is running right around 40-44 MPG depending on highway or back road use but she also has a tall Givi windshield, leg skirts, and the Tow-Pac saddle bags on the bike which I am sure increases drag, resulting in a drop in MPG as well.
We have done several long weekend runs with our GWRRA chapter and the SW "trike" has impressed the heck out of a bunch of folks, it can keep right up with the pack, including a day long Interstate run at 75+ MPH. Several Goldwing 1800 trike drivers have test ridden the SW and report that if anything it handles better than their conversions!
We have the original rear tire yet and frankly it is showing significant wear in the center contact patch area but this winter we are replacing it with the Sumitomo and will be able to report on that next year.
One reason we went with the Tow-Pac was $$, installed by the dealer, out the door price was $3200. But frankly I think it looks better, has torsion bar suspension and feels much more stable than other conversions we test rode.
With all her mod's and add ons (Lights, Grips, windshield, bags, CB/Sat radio, driving lights, seat, headlamp/brake lamp modulators ect, ect...) a SW "triked" comes in at 1/3 the price of a Goldwing and it does't have to be shifted.
Frankly I may peddle the goldwing next year and clone hers for me |

| Remarkably like an old Morgan 3 wheeler, except the Mog had the v-twin in front to keep the steering wheels on the ground. |

| The dason trike is twice the price of a tow pac trike kit! I have the tow pac kit on mine it works reasonabley well and handels ok you lose handeling when you install a kit I average 41 mpg with the kit but like it a lot for safety reasons still have the original tire on it and it does fine best of luck on whatever you choose. misterroy |
