Drive Face Boss Empty
PostSubject: Drive Face Boss   Drive Face Boss I_icon_minitimeWed Mar 14, 2018 10:18 pm

Hello,
I just changed the rollers on my 2009 Silver Wing with 30k miles on it and cleaned everything up. I put the stock rollers in. I checked the drive face boss for wear and it's still within tollerences. I'm ready to put it back together and am wondering if I need to use grease on the boss? The service manual makes no mention of it. I'm thinking white lithium or Molly grease. Just a light coating. What do you guys think?

No grease.

Never heard of a Drive Face boss wearing. Far more likely that the roller tracks in the moveable drive face   might show wear --and that is improbable until very high mileage. By that point you'd have replaced the OEM rollers (because of flat spots) and the ramp plate sliding pieces a couple of times.

Rest easy for another 3 belt changes.

Thank you Cosmic Jumper. Looking forward to putting it back together this weekend and going for a ride.
